Hope you are feeling better now. It is so frightening when this happens in the wee small hours. If you know that you will convert to sinus spontaneously it is worth trying to hang on . Easier said than done when you are suffering so & it IS the heart ! Sandra

OOOOh Mazza - I know that feeling (had it on Sept 18th) along with struggling to keep conscious. Dialled 111 and paramedics were sent who were amazed at the difference between my radial pulse (in wrist) and the speed my heart was actually doing. I have never felt so ill in my life and ended up spending 5 days in hospital where they managed to bring it down with high doses of flecainide.

By the way, I was told by the paramedics that I should have dialled 999, was told this at A+E too.

I've had two ablations which took a total of 9hrs altogether and have been told I am not able to have any more. I very much hope your ablation will sort you out. At the present my heart is still not beating right and I'm hopefully going to have another cardioversion (have lost count how many of them I've had, think perhaps 5 so far).

What medication are you on?

Hoping you stay well.

Jean

Jean, what a terrible experience for you.

I thought, and doubtless you did as well, that you had at last found a drug combination which worked for you.

You mentioned the big discrepancy between you radial and apical pulse. Does anyone know what causes this ?

Hi, Just recovering from my early morning wake up call of yesterday morning and so

feel for you. It really knocks you about doesn't it and yet I looked wonderfully healthy!

Look after yourself and hope it keeps away. Best wishes with the ablation.Kath

Yes - it's a bit scary when this happens. I've been in NSR for a long time now but got a chest infection last Monday and felt miserable with a temperature and continuous coughing. I woke up in the night and knew that I had a fast heart rate. Checked in the morning and it was banging away at 120 bpm (not ultra fast but fast for me as I'm usually 60ish. I decided to take an extra dose of Bisoprolol so in addition to my normal 1.25Mg I added a further 2.5Mg. It did the trick and back to normal now. I don't recommend this to everyone but it worked for me.

Yes I am already on 10 mg cardio tells me that's the max I can take

Oh Mazza don't despair, I've had 2 Ablations and 4 Cardioversions, my las CV about 6 weeks ago and up to now I'm still in NSR. It's so frightening when these sweats and heart beats jump all over the place, it's so hard to remain calm isn't it. Don't give up Mazza, keep at it, you'll get there.

Stay well

I hope you are feeling as good as you look now. Its scary feeling like that.

Does anyone know why there was a difference in radial pulse and heart rate. Ive often felt my pulse was going faster than I was feeling in my wrist but then thought it must be Impossible.

Take care x
