First since late December, this time didn't even have a cold or anything that usually makes the HR go up and the AF kick in.
Had been at work yesterday, drank OK (I thought) and although going 8 miles around the ward didn't feel too manic.
Have been a bit stressed this week with wife being on nights and decorating (whilst I do everything else like kids and housework).
Literally all I had done today was put shopping away and load dishwasher (bending/lifting) and then went to reach for a notepad with the meal plan on it, held my breath when stretching and when I straightened up it flipped out.
HR was 150 at its worse and I felt quite symptomatic where previously I've been OK. I did rest for a couple of hours, popped 10mg Bisoprolol and the hefty dose of Flecanide. I ended up falling asleep at 2pm until about 5pm but didn't revert back to NSR until about 7pm some 8 hours into the episode.
Should have been doing a 12 hour shift Sunday but I'm not now. And aside from a headache and general tiredness the HR is now down to 50-odd. 4 months between episodes isn't bad but I don't really want them to get more regular or more intense as per a few years ago!

Sending hugs Jedi. It’s so frustrating, these dodgy hearts of ours. X
G'day Jedi,
Sorry to read all that ........... for me bending will do it every time !
That's how all mine started back in 2010. Had spent 20 minutes in a low chair, bent over a shredding machine.
Shortly after the job finished I began to feel unwell ....... nothing cardiac at all - just like I was going down with man flu (why not, it was early January after all). That was the start, the very start of it all ...... as I've said before many times, during the next 9 hours my BP fell like a rock from a high place and my GP sent me to A & E and the rest is history.
My saviour was A & E sorting a diagnosis in around 9 hours and started getting me medicated ........ such a rapid response.
Sorry to hear this. Do you have a virus lurking I wonder which hasnt yet surfaced and contributed to tipping you into Af. That happened to me last week. You are in a prime work situation to catch things. Heres hoping it all settles and things get back on track.
So sorry to hear that Jedi, so disappointing when you have months without anything so you start to forget - I’m sure AF just didn’t want you forgetting he was around.
Bending and stretching did it for me as well but I imagine you do that around the ward?
Yeah that's what I couldn't work out. I squat, I walk a lot I bend I lift I carry I push beds And wheelchairs I also bend and lift legs onto beds etc. it's all very odd.
Bending down…… sucks when you have to figure out maybe can I squat and do this? Random things trigger or seemingly “ nothing at all”Sometimes mine converts to flutter, which for me is much much more tolerable to function. But, the discouraging feeling is hard to shake for me. I do not necessarily convert quickly, sometimes 2 hours, 6 days, a month, or just a few minutes. It is like a hooray when I do…….mine is stubborn. Sounds like you have done very well, we are all different.
Once in ER the Dr sent me home saying I was in NSR, when in fact it was a regular rate flutter in the 70’s. I argued and said, no my rate is 60 with my pacemaker…. Always. Without pacemaker low 40’s. I ended up back at the hospital a few hours later at a higher rate due to IV cardizem had worn down. I was like, I TRIED to tell you😞
Hi there , similar happened to me last night. Been couple of months since last blip. We're on hols in Spain, and sitting in chair 10.30 last night, quite relaxed watching film, bang bang of it went.... really scared me, palpitations strong. Took extra flec, nothing happened till 3 am ish. Got appointment at Aintree 23rd May, think meds need upping. Feel fragile today, but OK up to now. Best wishes. Pat
I'm surprised that you're still alive. Bisoprolol slows your heart down. I take only 1/2 (2.5mg) bisoprolol a day and my heart slows down, never mind 10 mg. This is a very powerful drug. I also take 100 mg of flecainide twice per day. This controls my heart rhythm. So far so good. I've been OK since Oct. I suggest you see your cardiologist asap!!
Having been on bisoprolol before, as my AF journey started 8 years ago, 10mg has been the only level of this drug that has stopped the AF breaking through. It is also the recommended dose I take as a one-off for rapid rate control when my PAF episode hits in conjunction with 400mg of flecanide.
Both these doses are within the recommended daily limits as set by the British national formulary (with bisoprolol you can go as high as 2.5mg per day)
Everyone is different, what is recommended for some would be ineffective on others and what doesn't work for some might just be what the doctor ordered.
I'm all for anything that keeps me away from having a 24th Cardioversion or 6th catheter ablation!
Glad your regime is working out for you too! Stay well!
You are ahead of me on cardioversions…. Mine 17 since 2014 and 1/2 ablation and another 1/2 ablation since I had cardiac tamponade with the first 1/2 ablation. YES… whatever it takes to control it
So disappointing when it happens. You took a long time to go back into NSR as well, let's hope yesterday was a one-off. I had an episode yesterday too, the first since September 11th, and I took my 200mg PiP flecainide, and was back in NSR within 15 minutes; what on earth was going on there, that has never happened so quickly. All I had done was have a small bowl of salted peanuts.
