I have date for av node ablation Tuesday 13th Oct. EP advised it as 3 failed ablations and then pacemaker in 2011. I am unable to tolerate rhythm meds and only Bisoprolol up to 5mg. This isn't what I wanted but I am hoping I will feel much better and be able to have the hip replacement I desperately need to be pain free.

I am new to the forum. With all best wishes for your procedure tomorrow. Hope this will be successful so your hip op can go ahead and give you a pain free future.
Hello Sungirl. I had the same procedure 2.5 years ago. I took a long time in convalescence with non-related other conditions. But honestly it's the best thing that's happened and I am now back feeling bright and well. Try not to be afraid and accept your pacemaker as the good friend it is.
I have never had an AV node ablation. Just three ablations in the pulmonary veins
I had a pacemaker inserted in 2002 after the first ablation to pace the heart and is programmed to step in if I go into AF. This works fairly well but does not do the job every time.
So Sorry, I got mixed up with all the reply spaces. I am having a hard time on flecainide & spaced out & weak ---I managed for years after the oblation. but, age is causing trouble.
I am over sensitive to drugs of all sorts, which makes things difficult. Thanks for answering anyway, Blessings,
I am due one & would like to talk with others who have. Wondering if its true its the 'end of the road' irreversible op.? If so what happens if you're still troubled by the arrythmias?
Hi Wendy. It's six weeks now since AV node procedure. Up to now I am feeling disappointed. I don't get the fast AF now but Know when my atria is galloping away. I still have irregular beats and to be honest I feel very down. My EP appointment and pacemaker check is on Monday 30th Nov. so perhaps the pacemaker needs a tweek to keep pulse steady. I will let you know what's said on Monday. Perhaps this is a healing process , I don't know as the aftercare is non existant. I hope I have good news to text you. It isn't reversible but there are more success stories and the very small % of failures
are treated with meds. Best wishes and I will be Intouch.
very best of luck for tomorrow...will be thinking of you as we cross back from our new northern isle home to mainland. Hope you'll feel masses better & full of energy - shall watch out for yr posts as I'm due one later... cheers wm
I would like to thank every one who sent me good wishes for the AV node ablation yesterday. All went well and It only took 30 minutes. I had a restless night but I think that was due to overactive imagination wondering if I would have scary symptoms which I didn't. EP reduced Bisoprolol from 5mg to 2.5mg. Apart from feeling jittery which I am sure is due to anxiety everything seems fine. Just wondering what the reaction will be if/when AF tries it's luck again although I will have a regular pulse. See EP in 2 to 3 weeks. Will post any news.
Thank You so much once again to all the kind and caring people who have boosted my morale and kept me strong. 😇 💐
Hi Wendy I have sent a reply to your other message. Ask about success rate and aftercare support. Also don't make a there and then decision. (Like me) Get all the info you can. There should be pacemaker info help at the hospital from people who have them. Speak to them also British Heart Foundation. I hope I have been able to help a little. As said in my other text, maybe Pacemaker needs a tweek. Good Luck. Sending love and light.
