A Fib after an A V node ablation

I just found out I'm having A Fib 90% of the time 4 months after my A V Node ablation. I'm still light headed and tired all the time. I don't know what to do next. Is this the way I have to live now. I'm 74 and very depressed and confused.

Pacemaker and AV node ablation will not stop AF which can continue in the left atrium. The pacemaker should be managing the left ventricle so your heart beat should be regular and stable. Maybe discuss with the pacing clinic regarding settings?

Agree with Bob. Your pacemaker should be controlling your symptoms, even though your AF will continue.

it can take quite a while to heal. It took me almost a year not that it was excruciating pain, but I was far from feeling well. I had had constant tachycardia and ended up with heart failure.

have they readjusted your pacemaker at all since it was fitted? Each month my tech would readjust. I started out at 80 the following month 70 and finally set at 60 which has worked out for the most part very well for me after the healing I have felt so normal something I never thought I would feel again.

the pacemaker should be your heart if it is set properly for the number they set is actually the number I have when I first get up in the morning. It goes up as I get active just like everyone’s heart when you are doing things. You are getting the feelings of a fib and or flutter the difference with the pacemaker is that it does no longer damage your heart because the pacemaker is in charge now. The point of the AV node ablation is to keep the natural pacemaker from interfering. None of the good stuff happens overnight, but it’s coming. Bob and so many others on here feel like I do and are happy. They have the pacemaker and the AV node was done. I was not told about still getting the feelings I think sometimes our doctors deal with so much that they forget to tell us. I personally think it should be on a. It probably would’ve saved my doctor and nurse a lot of phone calls with lol if you are still they may adjusted, but the number one thing is usually the healing process. Some people are luckier than others as it took me almost a year. Best of be able to refer you to some of those sheets they have. I was very blessed with a Doctor also a and now is director of electrophysiology at an incredible He was amazing and taught me so much knowledge is power and when you learn things you won’t be afraid.

Hi Pintpool. As you may remember i had av node ablated 3 weeks ago. The first 2 weeks i was almost free of any problems ut now the heart tha.ps have come back. It see.s the trigger for these is putting pressure on my left side and back. Maybe is vagus nerve ? I will phone the clinic tomorrow.. otherthan this which can be nasty ,i seem to be pretty well fixed as im getting better at walking already.

I'm 53 and had pace n ablate 3 years ago, went into AFib and heart failure not long after, I needed a 3 lead crt pacemaker to prevent the heart failure getting worse which I got in October 24 then had a cardio version December 24 to rid me of the AF.Still don't feel 100% and not sure I ever will, still get odd beats in my heart region, pounding in the chest and struggle with energy levels and motivation, but my EF on my last echo is now 55% and I'm still AFib free.

Off the anti cogulants but EP said I need to take the heart failure meds for two years before he would consider reducing/stopping them.

Hi, no there are a few options, medication to control, or a pacemaker to manage the pumping in the atrium.

Yesterday I had an update to my pacemaker to synchronise both chambers to pump together rather than random.

Best of luck

Dave
