Sorry to hear this. Personally I had serious problems myself with this drug, but not along your lines. The meds used for this condition can have the most appallig side effects and differ with each person. It seems you've been hit particularly bad. How did they did you ?

I took it only once, as PiP for PSVT. It made the SVT worse.

(Cardiologist then changed me to Inderal as a PiP, but a different Cardio disagreed with this regimen and put me daily Bisoprolol which has definitely been helpful in keeping my heart rate down.)

I am very sorry to hear about this

I paid to see EP privately and his PLAN B was for me that if I went into AF, then I should take 900mg stat and then if after 5 hours 'present myself' at Casualty for cardioversion. I checked some US websites and there was a risk of seizures.

I managed to contact EP again as I had also been worried about his advice to double the dose to 150 mg 3 times daily. To be fair he had not known about my chronic insomnia and weird feeling of heightened alertness.

So he has amended my dosage.

Actually I can even email him now, and yes, well worth £230 for piece of mind.

After my stroke no one reviewed my meds. I had to wait days to find out if it was safe for me totake Zolmitriptan for my migraine I had 2 days of pain ( for me, normal duration without this med).

One med sec, via doc said it was OK. For me to take them. I checked with neuro ( I also paid for MRI) and he said migraine pills would cause bleeding on the brain!

I took propafenone for a month or so along with diltiazem. On the drug sheet for propafenone, in big red letters, it said do not give with diltiazem but the EP did not think this was important advice to follow. My AF was a lot worse on these drugs and I felt lousy. I am off all drugs now and am much better. It seems that what impact drugs will have is difficult to determine so when the noticeable side effects seem unreasonable, it is best to get advice. In my case, I tried stopping the drugs since I could not get doctors or pharmacists to give me advice and when I finally did get to see the EP who prescribed them, he said he did not prescribe drugs for people who did not need them. Yet, he prescribed them for me. He said to see how it goes and to come back to him if I thought I needed to do so. Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling!

Sorry I don't understand your post. Are you saying that your cardio says you will develop liver and heart failure if you take propafenone daily, or that you have developed both?

I was on propafenone for a few years and it worked 100% in getting rid of my AF symptoms. But it gave me a terrible memory and made me feel a bit weird and spaced-out.

Hi Koll, sorry for late response. I developed liver and heart failure when I started to take propafenone daily. Reversed in two days after I stopped. Now I am afraid to take any antyarrhythmics. One EP (very good reputation) wanted me only on amiodarone in spite of the fact that I was still recovering from 6 weeks flue. I run away from him and now I work on my metabolic syndrome. I read about a research in Adelaide (Australia) which states that if you have health problems to be obese/overweight you can diminish your afib by loosing 10% of your weight(not less)
