Time for action.

Thanks for all your replies to my questions over the past week.

I started looking at this forum when I was diagnosed with persistent AF last year. Rather naively though, I thought it was a short term ailment which would soon be sorted so I didn't need any extra support. I felt great on Amiodorone too so that confirmed my thoughts that it was all sorted.

Now that I'm off Amiodorone and have been on and off several different meds, I find this forum and the advice etc invaluable :) thank you all.

So I decided that from today it's time to reassert my lifestyle changes, so I'm back on my diet as I've put on about 4lb in the past month!

Heart healthy diet of plenty of fruit, salad, veg, lean meat, fish, nuts, seeds, grains and pulses.

Going to continue with magnesium, zinc, omega 3, C-Q10 etc.

Alcohol will be cut down to a minimum and b just at weekends, with weekends actually starting on a Friday night rather than sometimes starting on a Thursday! (I know zero is best, but I also know myself).

Weather permitting I plan to have a steady walk for about an hour a day.

I have actually just finished an 8 week Mindfulness course, now I just need the time to practice meditation for 10 - 20 minutes a day. Sounds easy I know, but when you live in a small house with young children it's harder to get five minutes alone time than it seems & and I don't fancy meditating on the toilet LOL!

If there is something good to having A.F. It is that it encourages us to reassess our lives and we usually end up healthier in other ways than previously. I'm sure my liver is very grateful for my healthier lifestyle! X

What a great set of changes you've made. I'll be interested in how well this helps. Certainly, I've found such changes have halted the progression of AF - best wishes with this.
