Svt after ablation
Hi lulu , I had an a/f ablation a year ago which was successful, but have had some continuing problems with ectopic beats and with very infrequent fast heart rate. When the last fast heart rate was happening I went into a&e where they did an ecg and found an svt .
I elected for a further catheter based investigation and a few days ago went for the procedure , I was quite apprehensive about it.
The procedure was done on Saturday, I was conscious throughout and it only took 45 minutes. As soon as they started to take over pacing of the heart they found the problem which was av node reentrant tachycardia, he then ablated the reentry channel, which took about 5 minutes .
He was confident that the problem is resolved and took me off beta blockers immediately, with a 3 month checkup booked in , when i will stop warfrin.
The procedure of investigation was no more onerous than a minor dental appointment and the only after effect is a 3" bruise.
Hope this helps you.
Good luck
phil
