Hi Argzxon, hoping it is just temporary - what dose were you on? I was also wondering why you've been taken off, have you not had any AF for a long time, or have they replaced it with something else?

Hi Eatsalottie,I was on 2.5mgs of bisoprolol.Had ablation last August and pacemaker fit last June,So the consultant last month who said the ablation had gone well and he was going to discharge me and put me back under my GP,It was a very quick appointment like he was in a hurry I have read on this site that after a successful ablation people have come off there betas almost immediatly.I asked the consultant if i could come off them and he said no you are only on a small dose so you might as well stay on them. When i so my GP a few weeks later after he had got my report back and told him what the consultant had said he said that is mickey mouse doctoring to say that and decided to ween me off them and see how things went as i can always go back on them if things don,t work out and there,s no reason to stay on them if i don,t need to.I was getting some side effects from the betas so thats one reason i wanted to come off them. Thanks for your prompt reply.PS I,m feeling much better today and if it contiues will be glad to be off BETAS.argzxoni

I'm very glad you're feeling better! I'm also very glad that your ablation has gone so well. Certainly if it keeps going in the right direction, it all sounds very hopeful, beta blockers don't agree with everyone - I must admit I get a lot more tired than I feel I should (I'm on 5mg of bisoprolol)... So I'm very pleased to hear you're doing well.

One thing I've found in AF treatment, is that any changes - from a successful cardioversion to a drug adjustment, takes time to settle down, or take effect. Unless you are really suffering, Argzxon, I would give it time to settle down. Seems a bit sudden to take you off Bisoprolol altogether - rather than wean you off gradually. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Dadog1,It took 2 weeks to wean off as I was only on 2.5 mgs and i think i over did the walking the other day so that did not help but i,m feeling much better today and i,ll see if things improve as i didn,t like being on beta-blockers.
