Ablation 16/3, artery got damaged, 3 outpatient appointments, 2 failed attempts at thrombin infusion under ultrasound, emergency 3 day admission to hospital with emergency pseudoaneurysm and arteriovenous fistula repair (pretty major surgery involving patching the damaged artery with cow veins) . Most of the incision healed well (in crease of groin from under the hip bone to the pubic bone) apart from the inside end, repeated visits to GP nurse for monitoring and dressing changes. Got a funky blue/green discharge swabbed and results back as Pseudomonas, a hospital acquired super bug. Now on a super strength antibiotic which has a huge list of contra indications including heart rhythm abnormalities, heart weakness, being female and being on some of the drugs that I take. Thankfully just a 5 day course to survive!
I'm exhausted just writing all that. Not sure if there is anything else left to go wrong. Expecting this to put me back in AFib. I'll be amazed if it doesn't

Oh 'ecky thump Amanda what a traumatic journey you're having. This is just to wish you well very soon. I'm betting on no AF to follow as a result of complications. Things you think may happen tend not to, like planning lottery wins!!
Husband is around much of the time, but is usually about outside, we bought a small farm as a retirement project, 3 years ago! So we're both usually busy! Just wondering when this run of bad fortune will end? I want to buy a lottery ticket when it does!
Can’t believe the bad luck you are having. I mean I don’t know how they could’ve stitched it to the artery in the first place, sounds like negligence to me. I hope you feel better soon. If you do have another ablation just fyi my EP used collagen to plug up the holes, no stitches involved so maybe find someone who does that. Hope the super bug leaves quickly.
So sorry to hear all you have been through and then the super bug. I had one after my OHS that kept me in hospital for an extra month......not a great experience on top of everything else and I hope the meds don't compromise other things for you and also hope you are better very soon xx
So far so good, although seem to have a problem with oedema in the right thigh, in most people it goes down to the ankles, mine has stuck in the thigh.
It must be hard to imagine, given what you have suffered, that in a relatively short while, you'll be reflecting on all this with a smile over a coffee with a friend!
I feel sure that will be the case. Well - let's hope so. It's the most likely outcome.
It couldn't get any worse so just up and up. 60s is crap except when I turned 70 a stroke, with rapid and persistent AF and when properly diagnosed, a thyroid papillary cancer diagnosed emerged when a carotid arteries ultra-sound scan was done. All clear were the C.A but the shadow told a different story.
I had to be lucky that it was the cause of my stroke even though it was not good news.
Bad news that after 3 clear neck scans I've been called back twice on that 4th scan and CT scan with dye. Tuesday is the day of PET Scan. 3 areas, questioned and return of cancer.2 tiny one lymphs are cancer but the 19mmx9mm what is it.
Fingers crossed.
Being left with heart rates of Day avg 186 onMetoprool and 156 Bisoprolol, the Cardiac Specialist lady left me!
Damage to my heart was experienced by leaving me to cope with such high high rates for 2 years 3 months.
A private heart specialist saved me.
There are folks out there who care. 1 appmtmt and I received a handprinted Christmas Card.
Sometimes things go wrong.
I still believe and trust in my Surgeon, he may have missed a lymph node because papillary cancer grows 1mm per year. But there are 100 lymphs on either side of the thyroid. He removed 12 and 2 were infected.
I try to see the complication of all this.
But leaving me with rapid heart rate is unforgiveable. Hence I refused her as my heart specialist.
In Year 2 after my Scan in February I bought a colourful Cup for my surgeon and my Scanner. It read "You are the best" and thanking them.
Over this last event my surgeon is so caring he has rung me three times since January 2024.
You are really going through the mill, let's hope this bug will be the last of it. Try and rest as much as you can and hopefully you won't get aFib returning after you've been through so much to rid yourself of events.Keep updating us about how you go or just to have a chat if you need one , gentle hugs , Bee
Well I've just been caught in an online scam too, had to cancel my bank card. I can't believe my heart rate is still it's normal low 50's having just spent 30mins on the phone to the bank. Praying it stays that way.
Flip A Brick! If trouble comes in threes you've definitely had your trio. Seems like the whole universe is trying to test how successful your treatment has been , but if your heart rate is still low and you had the energy to take on the bank while you are still in recovery I'd think positive, the treatment may have been successful and will last.....or you have the strength and patience of a Warrior Queen.
I think we need to start sending you some four leaf clovers through the post, hugs , Bee
I've just taken the dogs for a half hour march around the fields and all good s still well. I'm getting fitter every day. I was half way up a Welsh Mountain when the AFib became intolerable and I went to the GP as soon as I returned home.
OMG what an awful time of it you have had, glad that you are able to attempt humour after all that .. what an absolute fiasco 🙁… really hope the ABX work to get rid of the bug so that you can start to heal… so awful
