Me too, my AF diagnosed last Christmas, was put on warfarin. In late summer cardiologist said he did not want to see me again. As my INR was regular. Then a week ago after being out celebrating a friend’s birthday, I thought I was good, just half pint of cider, and small portion of green veg. No pud Got back home, and had another attach ended up in hospital and having my heart regulated with a small electric shock. I know mine is mild to what some of you have, but it still sucks.

Hi Smee, Last year I had an ablation for the tiniest, weeniest symptoms of AF you could imagine. Ideal time to knock it on the head my EP said. Don't know what others think, but I'd be looking for a new cardio if mine put me on Warfarin and said he didn't want to see me again (which he wouldn't).

Hi Smee ,Have only just come across your post .Im no expert by any means but find it weird that a cardiologist not to see you again because of your inr .warfarin is a precaution against clotting caused by A F .so if your inr is ok your af still needs monitoring .My inr is ok and they have just fitted me with a pace maker ,I thinkif i was you i would seek a second opinion DON'T be fobbed off .Good luck poppystorey

Hi Cherjane,

Sorry to hear you are having an episode. Your assessment is spot on…..it sucks!!!!! I think we must have been having one at the same time, looking at when you posted. Nothing is more aggravating, for sure. I hope you are feeling fine and in NSR by now. Please check in and tell us how you are doing!

Mine started a couple hours before we were to go out to dinner with friends. So instead of going to a place in the city where we would have had to park many blocks away, we ended up going to a place in the country where we could pull right up to park. I was really glad to make that change because long walks when I am in AF leave me a little breathless. So it was nice to have the diversion of dinner with friends, and then I came home and went to sleep and I'm back in NSR.

My episodes are always more frequent over the holidays and practically non-existent in the summer when I am more relaxed. I feel like I love the hustle and bustle to get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but clearly my heart prefers the non-hectic pace!

Be well, Cherjane!

I hope you are okay by now, Cherjane, sending big hugs. AF does suck, big time...

Thank you for all you good wishes. I am feeling better. I decided to ride out the episode at home instead of going to Emergency. Not sure why I keep getting the 170+ heart rate.

But I guess I will have to take it one day at time. Take care

How are you measuring your heart rate Cherjane? Just asking because some of us have had high readings from sports heart rate monitors because they can't cope with AF it seems. One of my monitors goes over 200 when I get a bout, but it isn't in reality that high.

Alcohol of course is an aggrevent, as well as caffeine, e.g. Holidays?

If you wish to know your heart rate, check out:

iheartrhythm.com/

This is in the USA but they will ship worldwide. Two electrical engineers designed this for their father who is a cardiologist. I purchased one and it works. It is one sure way to know what your heart is doing when it is in A-Fib or otherwise. Taking or sending a chart to your doctor is sometimes helpful and it can avoid going to the ER. Should you decide to purchase one, when you order, if you use the promo code iheartca, they will give you a small discount. It is less than $100 pounds.

Hi Everyone

I am feeling a lot better since the email. I had my ablation procedure done in LA July 2. I had a longer recovery but I have been in NSR since July. I have had two stress tests and echocardiogram with no other heart problems. I can stop taking my anti-rhythmic drug next month. I am still out on leave of absence. My leave will have to continue due to finding out my daughter has advanced melanoma cancer day before my surgery. I am taking care of her but she is getting the best care at the City of Hope in Ca.

Keep her in your prayers.

Take care everyone.
