Hi, Had an ablation 5 yrs ago, have recently been experiencing heart beating fast, heart feeling like a bag of bolts, feeling radiating up
I would want to see my Consultant in these circumstances for reassurance. Was it your GP who did ECG. Maybe a continuous portable monitor for your heart to catch any unusual events. Do you have main meal at night? Maybe try changing when you eat or have a lighter meal or eat earlier.
I see you're on warfarin so won't want to make drastic food changes. Does anything you do change how long these episodes last. Sorry more Q's than answers. regards Wendy B
Hi Wendy,
I have tried different times, usually eat same quantity because of Warfarin. only happens in the evening. My GP is going to refer me to a Cardiologist.
There doesn't seem to be any one thing thing that I can put my finger that triggers or affects the length of the episode.
That's sound advice Wendy.
If it happens after a meal you should start keeping a food diary to identify any triggers. Share this information with your consultant and request a 24-hour monitor. Bradycardia is a slow heart rhythm, but you are also experiencing palpitations so you should seek advice from your specialist. Hi Raj,
Please see the reply to Wendy. Thank you very much for your support, I have asked the GP for an Echo cardiogram as it is 5 yrs since I had the ablation and I read this in the AF Magazine, but he didn't seem to think this was done routinely in our area. The ablation was performed in Exeter, but I live in North Devon and have seen the Cardiologist there once, no electrophysiology input in this area at the moment, although I have heard that there is going to be a 'one-stop shop with specialist nurse in Barnstaple Hospital.
