Hi Maitha

I don't use it or flecanaide of any of the rythym control drugs to be honest, a quick Google tells me it combines both rythym control and rate control, so sort of like taking flecanaide and say bisoprolol together. Your doc obviously think you need both.

I hope that someone who currently takes it can reassure you on here soon

Take care and be well

Ian

Thank you bean

Actually my doctor is far away in UK and he just emailed me this recommendation

I'm already on bisoprolol , how can add to it the same combination again

Communication is an issue here , I will try to consult my cardiologist here for advise

I just notice that you have permanent fib , which is worse? Permanent or off/on AF?

And how do you feel? How to manage?

I'm suffering a lot from frequent AF attacks recently which is hard to be managed

It is really controlling my life negatively

My apologies for asking a lot , but I read that in case I didn't treat my AF attacks It will change to permanent, is it true?

Hi Maitha. Yes I used to take this. Arrhythmol./ Rytnomor or anything like that is propafanone hydrochloride. My EP switched me onto it from atenalol and Flecainide and it did work for me eventually.

When my husband went into AF ( which turned out to be permanent ) in the Canaries he was prescribed propafenone on top of all his anti hypertensives/heart medication including atenolol. As Bob D said it's in the same family as flecainide and considering he'd had a heart attack some years ago I was a bit surprised. It suited him just fine but unfortunately did not help the AF so on our return to UK it was discontinued as he has no symptoms of AF and the plan is just to continue on warfarin with no other treatment.

I have been taking Propafanone now for about 5 months, prescribed by my cardio instead of beta blocker, as it does not cause tiredness apparently. Haven't noticed any side effects, but it is only partly effective at maintaining rhythm. I have had to up the dose once since I started taking it, so I am not sure if I am becoming resistant to it.hope this is of some help.

Thanks all

My doctors mentioned to me that I may use it temporary till having ablation

I'm not happy with any more medication, I tried flecainide earlier which didn't work with few side effects , I'm planning to manage my attacks by beta blocker only while having warfarin anyway since i have a metal valve installed few years ago

Regards
