Is anyone using Voltaren?

My doctor recommended Voltaren following a recent knee sprain. He said it wouldn't interfere with my Xarelto since it's applied topically. I'm still a bit hesitant to try it. Anyone here using it?

I've used similar with no ill effects. My doc told me the same.

My GP has told me exactly this. I did look online and whilst there remains a small risk, it seems minimal.

Me too. Doc said the same, but the pharmacist said otherwise. I went with the Doc without any problem

It caused me to have heart palpitations and I believe it may have been a factor in my afib. It's a great medication but I can't use it. If you research it, you will find similar results to mine

Voltaren is good stuff. BUT, follow the instructions TO THE LETTER! The active ingredient, diclofenac sodium (1%) is a very powerful anti-inflammatory- the gel was allowed on the market because it was demonstrated that blood levels following application were very minimal, and not significant. It is very important not to overuse this excellent product, either in frequency of amount of application.

Voltaren contains diclofenac. It is absorbed through the skin but using in a small area such as your knee many Docs say is fine. It may become an issue if you rubbed it in a large area say your entire back. Also if you have a dog who likes to lick, do not let them lick your hand or area treated with Voltaren .. it is toxic to dogs. Not sure if this affects cats however.

I've used Voltarol several times over the years with no problems and found it very effective for back and neck pain. A recent test INR while using it showed INR still within range and my GP was quite happy for me to use it.

Hello there. I am on Warfarin which has a hay wagon load of stuff not to use, and yet Voltaren was the one thing that I was told I could use. This recommendation came from our hospital hematology dept in Northern Ontario. Just don't lather it on, follow the directions.Take care
