Where have people gone.

Where has SRMGrandma, The Stand, and to some degree Beancounter gone. Does anyone know if they are all ok. So used to their helpful posts and not heard much from them largely since the changes to this site. It feels as though connections have been severed and fragmented since the site went down to accommodate the changes. Come back please if you can.

Beancounter (Ian) is still about as am I but the other two seem to have gone AWOL. Grandma has a broken arm I know but she was posting. I shall send them a message.

Hello Everyone! I'm here. I just got out of my sling so my right hand is finally free to type. I am going to physical therapy 3x/ week so I can get my arm moving again. The bone that I broke is my scapula, the triangle shaped shoulder blade bone in the back so my entire arm had to be immobile from the shoulder down. It really is quite painful to try to get moving again, but hopefully a couple weeks of PT will do the trick.

The good news is that my heart has been on its best behavior with no AF since all this happened!

As for Tim,(TheStand) I've been in touch with him on Facebook and since the changes to the site, he has not been able to load it on his computer. He is well and hoping to get back to the board soon.

Thank you so much for your caring concern. I have missed all of you, too.

Please let Tim know if he can't login we want to help!! The last thing we want is for someone to feel alienated, especially such an active member. He can email me directly - lora@healthunlocked.com and I'll help him right away.

I will make sure and let him know. I think the problem, as he explained it, is that he has Explorer and for some reason it says he has to install Chrome for the site to load. He has been traveling a lot and has new twin grandchildren who arrived a bit early so I suspect he hasn't had much computer time, but once he settles back in he will be back to encourage us all.

in reply to SRMGrandma

Okay, just let him know we do support Explorer 8, 9, and 10 now so he shouldn't have a problem accessing the site. :)

It seems I'm not alone in finding the changes less helpful. I miss the posts that used to arrive daily in my email and don't find the appearance of a single new question( usually twice on consecutive days) is a substitute for the ongoing discussion threads. Am I being stupid or is there really no way I can set my email preferences to receive these once again? All help as ever gratefully received.

in reply to StClares

Hi there. Have you checked your email preferences to make sure it has the settings you want? You can find them at the top green bar under your username.

Thanks for your responses guys. Good to hear all is, relatively, well with our hitherto missing friends. Thanks BobD I know you have been around and posting giving your usual excellent support and good sense. Will be great to have us all together again very soon.

Hi Meadfoot

Yes I am still here and posting when I think I can add value,

As most of you know, I am in long term peristent A Fib (Permament) so really can't add a lot of value to ablation or pacemaker discussions, or some of the drugs side effect issues as I only have a failed CV under my experience belt. I leave those to BobD, who has a wide experience and better knowledge than I.

Grandma is fine and posting, albeit she has injured herself with her attempt at a double twisting double front somersault across the stairs isn't that right Grandma? :)

Grandma thanks for the update on Tim, I too was worried about him, so it's great news he is OK.

I do think the changes to the site have not been that well received, for me the main issues are that to go to the "recent activity" as the first page is not sensible, I think it's a good idea but it should be an option to the right of posts in the sub-green menu. The opening page would be better to be a list of questions and posts alongside each other.

I find that at least 50% of the time this recent activity page does not load properly (Firefox V22.0) and I'm not using IE for anyone under any circumstances (horrid, bug ridden, easy to exploit program IMO). I also find that questions do not always load properly, and there is most certainly a bug (which I should have reported) in that if you go into a topic via any members list of activity (from their visible member page) then it sometimes opens an "edit" item for someone else's post, which is not good.

Volunteers used to get emails for new questions that has stopped, the geographic map has gone, so we can't see local members to us now. For me the site has not improved, for me the functionality has gone down, and the site does not have the same feel as it did before, and I continue to think that is a shame, as we are an incredible community when we get it right.

Take care and be well

Ian

in reply to Beancounter

Hi Ian,

Thank you for the feedback - we appreciate it very much.

I think some of the new features are something to get used to. The truth is, HealthUnlocked simply could not continue on the old site at the capacity it was growing to, so it simply had to be rebuilt. In rebuilding it, we introduced many new features that were simply responding to requests from users - that's why it's so great to hear from you.

I'm sorry if you haven't received some aspects of it well. We will be continuing to introduce features that were missed from the old side, so don't think this is it.

Have you checked your email notification settings (top green bar under your username)? This is where you can set your email preferences. We changed it for volunteers because in some of our busier communities they wanted an option not to receive EVERY notification that came through. Hope this is understandable.

I do hope you'll continue on this site as we make improvements every day. Please message me if you have additional concerns.

Best,

Lora S.

Yes, Ian the twisting double front somersault will get you every time :-)

It is so good to be able to type again and be out of that blasted sling...at least while I am at home. I still have to wear it out in crowds and I still can't drive, but hey, baby steps!

I agree with your thoughts about the changes, not understanding the format changes required to let the site grow, as Lora explained. The map though, was never helpful to me, as it was such a small area, that unless you lived in the same community it would be hard to recognize where that was. Maybe there will be a new location feature?

At any rate, we are a tight little group, though growing and we are here for each other's support and to share and appreciate each other's wisdom.

I guess we will adapt to the changes!

Take care, my friend.

*Waving*

Glad to see BeanCounter and Grandma :) It's good to know you're both still around! I think the main change I notice with the site now is that I just get a couple of questions through and the onus is on me to search the blog posts for others. I'll get used to it... and I need instructions for the double twisting front somersault ;)

Hello All,

It's good to see so many 'old friends' together again. We just need a comment from Tim. Maybe he can't type with a new baby on each arm! What a great reason for missing though.

I agree with all the comments about the difficulties and with Eatsalottie that we will get used to it, eventually.

Though I still find it disappointing not to find an email alert everytime I log on to my mail box.

Good to hear from you again Grandma, hope your arm improves quickly.

Best Wishes to all.
