Why is nothing work for my father

Justgettingitright profile image

I am so disheartened that none of the medicines are working for my dad. We were very hopeful about Keytruda but seems like it’s not working as his PSA has again increased.

Oncologist suggested Lu-177 but not sure if that’s a good therapy for my dad as he has multiple FDG avid lesions.

he is still doing okay. Appetite is fine and is in no pain. It is so tough to give up.

Cabazitaxel? Xofigo?

Docetaxel +Carboplatin did not work and even oral chemo pills seems to be failing. Doctor said taxane based chemo is not working for him. But we will discuss cabazitaxel.

Xofigo is not available in India.

Thank you for prompt reponse always, Tall.

in terms of FDG scans, which believe are metabolic based scans [sugar uptake], is there a challenge of applicability for Pca met identification; 1 Pca feeds off cholesterol, until way down stream in its progression and 2. Is there a difficulty discriminating between areas highlighted as Pca mets or due to other reasons ?

My dad’s is a similar situation and I’m just so sad. He’s had two infusions of Jevtana but PSA is going up (I hear that may not be abnormal) and has significant pain is his leg so that it’s hard to walk. He has small lesions in his sternum as well. His PET is tomorrow.

He’s 87 so I know he’s been incredibly fortunate but I don’t want to lose my dad bc he’s always been my rock. Best wishes to your dad, you and your family. 💔

I have significant pain in both legs and I'm 88 years old. I have neuropathy and my balance is "Kaput". I do not have any advice for him.... except to keep plugging away.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Check out Dr Makis substack. He is doc in Canada. What do you have to lose is nothing else is working?

I would second this recommendation. My dad is currently doing it. Whether it helps or not is yet to be determined but he’s feeling fairly well with it. Just have his doctor monitor blood levels.
