Hello to everyone!

I am concerned daughter of 76 years old father, looking for help.

He was diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma, grade group 3, Gleason 4+3=7 in August this year. His PSA was 528, a month later 859. Multiple bone metastases (scull, shoulder, spone, pelvis…) found on bone scintygraphy.

25.9. 2023. started Reseligo 10.8 mg (every 3 months) and 16.10. 2023. Erleada 240mg daily was added. His PSA yesterday was 6.7.

He is otherwise healthy and fit man, still working but now very concerned an depressed.

Any advice, opinion and consolation is much appreciated.

He should also be getting docetaxel right away (if he waits, it will not help). This is called "triplet therapy." You can read more about it here:

Thank you, I have to see if the oncologist will agree.

Docetaxel not available for him where we live.

Where do you live? It's possible a fellow resident is a HU male care member and can provide help.

EU

That doesn't help much since each country in the EU determines which treatments are covered...which country?

I was here for my father as well, and he is lucky to have you. Thankfully, he is responding to treatment.

My "advice" is always the same. ESPECIALLY since he is relatively healthy otherwise.

Keep him focused on things to look forward to, and to not continually talk about his cancer.

My father never complained, and together we searched out conventional and non-conventional methods to help him live longer BUT with vitality.

That was through activity, travel, art, music and family time. He had prostate cancer for 17 years, and passed this August at 88, peacefully.

I urge you to check out Dr. Geo Espinosa. A mens health advocate, urologist and AMAZING man that helped my father LIVE with happiness, and not focus on being a "patient" at all times.

I will pray for you both, as I do for all of us here.

Sending you blessings and healing prayers,

Dawn

Thank you for really beautiful words. It really means a lot to me. Very encouraging to hear your father lived that long. Many thanks!

I’ve listened to Dr Geo as well, little quirky but straight forward n very informed, he had Dr Rana McKay one of our oncologists here at ucsd on his pod cast. They covered a lot of great info n collaborated well on the controversial subjects. Dr Scholz is pretty good as well. Good luck as your father is fortunate to have you as an advocate n most importantly keep an open mind on all different treatments including the alternative ones…😊😇

I also came to this site for my father and it helped me quite a bit just to read about the similar experiences people had.

It sounds like your father has almost the exact same diagnosis as mine and my father lived a long, great and full life the entire time from when he was diagnosed up until the very end. Many great years that I am happy to have been able to have!

The entire process really opened my eyes to just how quickly things are advancing in the world of cancer medication. There are very amazing medications and treatments available right now and I think if he had been diagnosed even a bit later than he had been, he probably would have had exponentially more time.

My advice is just to stay on top of the research yourself so that you have a good idea of what's going on and be sure to move quickly if anything changes from any of his medical results. I've found that every doctor we dealt with had very different opinions on things and, even though you have to have some trust in your doctors, I've found it helps to at least have some working knowledge of what they're talking about.

It's a very scary process to go through for everyone involved, there's no doubt about it. I'm sure it will help immensely for your father just to be there for him and to treasure your time together! But there is quite a lot of hope out there in the current world of cancer treatment. My father was very healthy and capable for a long time!

Praying for you!

Really nice words, you made my eyes tear up. This is very tough period for me. I hope my father will live many more years too, although sometimes I feel so helpless…

Thank you!

Remember a good attitude can only help and the one thing you have complete control of. In your search for answers start with a positive mental attitude to the dilemma. Breath, stay in the moment. Turn your fears over to a higher power.
