well Ive been lucky but it seems like not great news for me. trying to stay positive. After 10 months of being cancer free my PSA has risen. Talked to MO and he says he wants me to come in for a PSMA scan again. PSA was steady at 0.04 three months ago for that 10 months. Then, it jumped and doubled in one test to 0.1.1.
Has anyone had any false PSA readings post ADT.?
Not sure if that happens. I know it happens pre ADT. Having sex the night before. Stress. Biking. All those can cause an elevated PSA.
Hopeing this is an aberration.....
Realizing that I most likely am having a recurrence. Does this disease ever go away?
All input is appreciated!

If your Ins covers it, doing the PSMA will give you more info - and then you know. And the MO knows what to do - or not do, Take some of the guessing out.
PSMA seems to be SOC. I am having a scan in April - numbers similar to yours - but my rise is after 7 years of very low and undetectable .
Hey TA. If I understand correctly your saying I should wait until my PSA reaches 2.4 to do a PSMA scan? Maybe go to monthly testing? Right now Im doing every 3 months.
No it does not go way . My PSA came back after five years and went up to 195 after 20 years . Have been on hormonal progaram the last 15 months and PSA is now 0 . However that does not mean that I am cancer free . We have just slowed it's progress . Just remember that there is no cure for cancer that is what I was told by the doctors that operated me in Toronto 2002 .
You are correct. It never goes away. After RP in 2020, I was undetectable for 4 years with post op positive margin. Gleason 9. No treatment since RP. PSA was .047 in May 2024, .1 in September 2024 and <.1 in February 2025. It's coming back but taking its time. My oncologist says no PSMA until .2 or a steady .1 or higher for 6 months.
As you have asked for all input. Looks to me like you doc is striving to be out in front of your circumstances - perhaps in part because you have had multiple treatments. You had success with Axumin scan and your doc is supporting additional imaging; I think of all the men whose doc's are unsupportive of 'early' imaging. I lean in heavily on further investigations, including liquid blood biopsy testing and scanning.
IMO the definitions of recurrence are outdated guidelines - certainly not exact science. Why give cancer time and obscurity? I find testing as frequently as monthly is the best way to manage my anxieties, and I am willing to self-direct and self-pay as various insurances over the past ten years will not pay for this frequency. All the best!
Geez so it was my Mother's fault cause of her Mother's milk.....Hey Ma....no free tickets for you to my Comedy Store in the Sky.... see ya soon....Love, John
