ADT after chemo question

Concerneddaughter123 profile image

Hi everyone,

My dad has completed 7 doses of docetaxel, with the goal of 8 total. He is struggling with the fatigue and is hoping to take a break from chemo after #8. I’ve read articles and seen information on here about Apalutamide or another similar medication possibly working again after chemo. Does anyone have any personal success stories with this?

He had a partial response to Apalutamide and ADT with most mets decreasing in size, and in brightness, but he did have two new Mets show up, which is why chemo was recommended. Gleason 9, extensive mets throughout skeleton, with PSMA scans stable/slightly improved since jan of 2024.

Thank you.

ADT always works. The purpose of ADT is to stop endogenous testosterone, and it will always do that.

I understand he will be on ADT but I meant to say adding Apalutamide or other similar medication again, as he only had a partial response before chemo. He had continued Firmagon throughout chemo. Sorry for my confusion.

Docetaxel extended the effectiveness of enzalutamide in the PRESIDE trial:

I had six treatments with Docytaxel, each three weeks apart. I was pleased I never felt sick. I then had 20 treatments of radiation and went on a clinical trial to deal with the Mets in my hip and spine. Been on Lupron since day 1 and I am blessed by the Lord to be able to say PSA <0.02 for 91/2 years.

I'd take that!
