Please see my bio for history on my dad. He has been taking lynparza since May. Yesterday he went in to have an exchange of his right ureteral stent. Here is an excerpt from the procedure:
"Systematic cystoscopy was performed. This revealed diffuse tumor involvement of the bladder floor. This distorted the anatomy that without the indwelling ureteral stent, I would not be able to identify the right ureteral orifice. This also distorted the angle of the intramural ureter. It angled acutely anteriorly and caudally. I was not able to identify the left ureteral orifice with multiple attempts of open-ended catheter being used to move overlying tissue to identify an orifice."
He was able to successfully exchange the right stent but my obvious concern is with the cancer presence in the bladder it eventually affecting his left kidney as well. My question is should his MO being doing anything else at this point besides the lynparza to help prevent further complications with his kidneys from the bladder mass? Thanks for any input and all of your help.

My urologist was unable to insert a stent in my left ureter as the tumours in my bladder were covering the orifice or jet. The solution was to insert a stent from the left kidney down the ureter and force it into the bladder. This was successful and I had subsequent stent changes from the bladder up and into the kidney from then on. I then had radiation therapy to the bladder and a TURBT. Eventually we got the bladder tumours under control, I was able to have the stent removed and normal flow was restored. Hope this helps. DD 😎
Thank you so much, DD! I was just reading about the TURBT and radiation and wondering why those hadn’t been brought up but maybe it’s because on his last PET scan in August it had showed improvement in the bladder mass. I guess that changed between August and now when they went in to change the stent. I really appreciate your help and wishing you well!!
