My husband’s Dr. Mulhall has prescribed him 25 mg of cialis once a week as a way of blood flow to the penis. Wondering if there are any side effects that result from this…already from the positive one hopefully Thank you for any input.
cialis 25mg: My husband’s Dr. Mulhall... - Advanced Prostate...
cialis 25mg
I get a headach! I take two Ibuprofen along with the Cialis and then again in 4-6 hours. However, I don't take that strong of a dose. I'm prescribed 10mg twice a week.
Hi SherryKahn,
I’m on the same regimen and it works great for me. I don’t get any side effects myself, but common ones are stuffed nose and headache.
Thank you.
As far as I understand, tadalafil (cilais) also seem to help protecting against ”myocardial infarction, heart failure, and doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy”:
I have been doing 5mg a day for a few months. Nothing but good results for me so far.
I was taking 5mg a day. The only side effect I had was indigestion.
No side effects that I can remember... The once. A week is actually called a "Challenge" dose. The 5 mg daily is the maintenance dose.
Challenge dose can be done more than once per week, but there must be a day in between at the minimum, ie, not every day. Preferably 2 days between challenge doses.
The challenge dose is for effect, while the maintenance dose is what elevates blood flow to the area. I recommend also making sure that kegels are continued.
Dr. Mullhall is excellent, you're in good hands there as he is well respected and considered a leader in the field of Sexual Health Oncology. Yes I am a patient, lol.
If the challenge dose fails, sometimes you need to give it time, a few times or more until the response begins. Otherwise you may want to discuss Trimix injections which revive the 18yr old effect! Just pointing it out. Injections aren't for everyone but they work.
Good Luck and Best Regards
I was in a study that prescribed and provided 60mg of sildenifil 3 times/wk. Sleepiness was only side effect. The study also provided a penis pump which kept the blood flowing. I forced myself to use it (I was taking Lupron at the time) and am very glad that I did. Alas, I am not aware of any studies that compare meds/dosages in treatment of ED as a result of PCa. Btw, I had IMRT and brachy and ADT. All relevant variables. Plus, age plus pre-treatment erectile functioning. Plus comorbidities. A lot to ponder.

After my prostatectomy in 2018 the doctor told me that I should take Sildenafil every day so that it really worked when I needed it. I am not a drug person, so I never did that. I took Sildenafil when I needed for sexual performance, and it has always been fine, although not like the old days of course. 40 mg does it for me.
Oh let me add that I do get a stuffy nose from it. I have a close friend who has the same issue, and he uses nose drops. A lifelong nurse told me that Viagara was developed to reduce high blood pressure....but when patients used it for high blood pressure, they just wanted more of it.....for some reason that they eventually figured out. 🫠
Husband has taken 5mg a day for several years. Also a viagra on top of that a few times a week. One huge benefit is studies have shown it (viagra which also increases blood flow) dramatically can reduce the chance of Altzheimers. A big Australia study found this and then this summer an Oxford study confirmed it and said yes it is due to the increased blood flow to the brain (and elsewhere of course). Sorry am not able to add links here for some strange reason but do try to google this (it was viagra though in the studies) . It’s quite remarkable. Can the ladies take it too? Haha!!
I take 5mg a day. Nobody ever recommended a full dose once a week or more. Will bring that up. Thanks.
I had excruciating back pain on using it.
5mg tadalafil (Cialis) a day for me, the last year or so, has seemingly warded off the dreaded shrinkage. I take 20mg as needed for the "other" purpose, which does sometimes give me a headache. One side effect I've heard of is tinnitus, which I already had, and doesn't seem to have gotten worse.
