I have been hearing Jevtana has less side effects than Docetaxel. My husband seems to be having a harder time, he has nausea he didn’t have before and some serious insomnia. Tough to deal with while working FT.
Any of you chemo warriors have suggestions on foods that are appealing (nutritious also is a huge plus)? This morning all he could tolerate was a popsicle.
Just being honest…I’m getting worried with the narrowing treatment options and the castrate resistant status. Trying to stay positive.
Thanks to everyone for your input and for being there!

Hey! Yes, they put a hefty amount of Benadryl in his port before infusion. Don’t think he got Tylenol. Headache didn’t hit till 3rd day post infusion. Yes, he’s begun Claritin.
Another suggestion, Call the triage line and make a sure to share side effects that will help you to get right combinations for the side effect. I did call many times and repeat again and again and they fixed it
Is he taking any oral anti nausea meds? One prescribed one begins with an O. Our chemo doc said to have a plant based protein powder smoothie daily no matter what kind of treatment. I use a scoop of the powder ( can always start out with less) of the unflavored powder. 1 cup of water. I add a tablespoon of chia seed, spinach, white mushroom powder, Chaga powder, a cup of red, blue mixed fruit, nfrozen ( I get at Walmart they have a couple different ones, nice size bag). Also a squirt of MIO or store brand flavor enhancer.come in small bottles.. he might only be able to drink like 4 ounces at a time. Maybe try a little every hour, keep other refrigerated. The chia seed might thicken it. I do see the powder in like the pharmacy section, but I order from Amazon. There are some ideas for various smoothies online.
Thank you! He was prescribed Prochlorperazine for nausea. Hesitated to take it because he hadn’t slept all night and thought it might make him drowsy. He can’t afford that because he works FT.
I had more nausea with Docetaxel than with Cabazataxel (jevtana). They gave me an antipsychotic drug called Olanzapine to take for 5 days after chemo infusion for nausea, and it has worked very well. Seems odd an antipsychotic would work for nausea, but it does.
