Precision Drug Olaparib May Be Effective Without Hormone Therapy for Some Men with Biochemically Recurrent Prostate Cancer

Note: there is something better than olaparib that is being tested at the moment, something more precise and less toxic (saruparib)

but still this is a very interesting news for people with HRR mutations, especially BRCA 1/2 because they are proving that this approach can work even without a simultaneous ADT therapy...

That’s amazing! Any treatment to get of ADT would be much appreciated for us all!

saruparib. It would help if they reverse the name to birapuras which would make it easier to pronounce. Sknaht.

Interesting that ATM responded since it is not widely accepted that the Parp Inhibitors have any impact outside of BRCA2.

they do, but to a lesser extent. There is one pretty large study that says that parpi work also for people with no genetic alterations but to such a small extent that sometimes they are not worth it.

Which is why I ask which ATM mutation are detected. Not all ATM mutations are created equally and therefore only some respond. I wish this data was provided.

I will try to see if the data are available

Thanks for finding this. Am on Olaparib. Am getting results after 3 months but SEs are ever present and wear you down. Found this on saruparib..

Looks encouraging.

Very promising news, but I'm on a Facebook group for Olaparib and the side effects are pretty bad. I stopped chemo after 2 cycles, I could not handle it, these women say that they would rather do chemo instead.
