I'm sure there are still a few folks from our past groups who traveled to health unlocked when our other groups ended. I read yesterday that Chuck left the earth recently and I thought the group would like to know.
Myself and s0o many others received so much compassion, help and guidance from Chuck through all of these years and I'm so glad I let him know how thankful I am for his loving and informative guidance.
A huge loss to his family, the world and the prostate cancer groups😪

Chuck was diagnosed in 1994 with G 3+4 (by standards of that time) and had surgery and relapsed within two years. He had several drugs and combinations over the years. I stopped following him when he took a lower online profile. He was one of the men I kept a list of who were l-o-o-o-o-ng time responders. He had heart troubles and that reduced his participation in groups. I recall him fondly.
I remember Chuck from when I was first Dx’d in 1995 - a year after him - and he was one of the first guys I ran into online back then. He endeavored to calm the maelstrom for me, and we communicated often then. We shared a military history as well, he was Navy, I am Army. You can imagine the inter-service banter there!
He was a good, honorable man, and will be missed by many I am sure.
I didn't know him and he didn't know me.... but I'm sure if he knew me he would have liked me...Time for him to go AWOL...I will make sure he only has to pay half price to enter "My Comedy Store in the Sky" (free Chocolate Chip ice cream (two scoops)). God Bless him and his family and friends.
I was deeply saddened by the news that my great friend Charles ( Chuck ) Maack has passed recently. He was my Mentor since March 2015 when I was diagnosed with APCa. I gained a vast knowledge on the subject from his website theprostateadvocate.com ( 200 odd papers by him ). After his retirement from the US Navy he dedicated his entire life to help the prostate cancer patients and their caregivers. Over the years he became a personal friend of mine. He shared his entire life story with me using many beautiful old photographs he had in his collection. I never did forget to greet him on his birthday ( 11.12.1932 ). Up until recent times almost daily he used to send me messages. He was a prolific writer even at the age of 90 and I enjoyed sharing my views with him. His departure is an irreparable loss to the prostate cancer community .May he rest in eternal peace .
Thank you my good old friend Jackie for your post.
