My insurance plan is called Blue Cross / Blue Shield Federal Employees Program (FEP) Medicare Prescription Drug Program (MPDP). I think the payer is Medicare Part D (Reformed) administered by BC/BS which is my Medicare Supplement.
I do not understand why my Abiraterone is costing my plan so much. I have called my specialty pharmacy, and written my supplemental insurance company and my urologist. Nobody has an answer.
Both my Orgovyx and Abiraterone cost me only $75/month. Medicare is paying the expected $2,800/month for the newer still-patented Orgovyx, but an amazing $5,000/month for the older now-generic Abiraterone.
Yes, I know. It's cheap at Costco or my drug store. If my plan is paying $5,000 and I am only paying $75, who is getting the other $4, 925 every month?
Isn't a lot of that gross pricing and large discounts just our system? Not the real price? I can get it for $100/month with GoodRx or Singlecare, buty Plan D has excellent pricing as well.
I go by what it costs me. I'm actually not on it yet, but it may )or may not) be the next thing.
Of course, in 2025 brand name drugs like Xtandi will be cheaper than ever on Plan D plans, as I understand it.

My Medicare Part D EOB for my Abiraterone states that the drug price is $5,010.71, they paid $4,935.17, and I paid $75.00. That $75.00 is excellent pricing for me, but I wonder where the rest of the money is going. This cannot be good for viability of Medicare.
Soumen79 - Men in the U.S. are generally getting the generic abiraterone since the Zytiga patent expired. I have been on the generic for 3 years and the brand has switched often. The generic brand is the choice of the pharmacy and can vary from refill to refill.
This may be late, but I will respond anyway. I take generic abiraterone 250 mg with low fat breakfast. I use Mark Cuban CostPlus pharmacy and pay less than $40 per month. I use no insurance with them. Prednisone should be fairly low cost anywhere.
