Dad is 83 and has to start on ADT from Tomorrow. He has no known cardiac issues but we have a strong family history of cardiac disease. His dad and brother both passed from it He also gets ectopic beats/ pvc’s since many years but all cardiologists say those are benign and not to bother. His blood pressure is 115/70
I am conflicted whether to choose Firmagon or Zoladex . Dr is ok with either. I want to go with Firmagon but I see some say they have very strong reactions with it and that makes me scared .
Any thoughts would be much appreciated . Also , does the Firmagon or Eligard affect blood pressure ?

I've been metastic for 8+ years and started ADT with Lupron (an agonist) and Casodex but the side-effects--especially hot flashes, heart palpitations, and depression--were debilitating. So I researched other meds and discovered Firmagon (an antagonist) and started using it about four years ago. It not only has far less onerous sid-effects, but only 3-4 1-month injections per year keeps my PSA down, and my quality of life has improved greatly. Those injections, though, are liquid, not capsules like Lupron or Zoladex, and cause some pretty serious discomfort for several days afterwards. Thus, if you live someplace where its available, I recommend trying regulolix (U.S. brand ORGOVYX, I think), which is also an antagonist but in pill form. Unfortunately, it's not approved for PCa treatment in Japan, where I live.
