Just received results from BMD. All looks okay except for total left hip which went from 1.058 to 0.967.

Is this of concern?

What should I be asking my doctor?

Opinion on next steps?

-2.5 is the official osteoporosis BMD, so you have a long way to go.

What is your T-score?

Number above are T-score numbers

Hmm...

The numbers you reported appear to be Areal bone mineral density values, in units of gm/cm2. Note, other countries report BMD in Volumetric BMD (in gm/cm3). The two are related to each other, but in the USA g,/cm2 is the standard unit of BMD.

The T-score is usually reported as a number like, 1.0, -1.0 or -2.5, etc.

The T-score should be somewhere on your DEXA scan report.

Youre not even into the negative numbers!!!

-1.0 is osteopenia, and as TA said -2.5, is osteoporosis.
