I have been on this for sometime now and just wanted to share how you can save money regarding this pill. I have been on this and different times I’ve had different prices from different pharmacies and I usually pay through them an average of three to $400 a month. Mark Cubans costplus.com is a site that allows you to pay for this pill at a quarter of the cost of the $400 a month average price. His site and Mark has worked out cutting out the middleman at least that’s what they say but it is a great price and I’m just recommending it.

I have Plan D Medicare with Wellcare. My last refill this month worked out to $60/month!

I guess I should have added for those with no insurance…also amazing how much they can charge.

GoodRx and Singlecare are often competitive with Cuban.

I have Medicare Plan D from United Healthcare, Walgreens option. But I buy my abiraterone from Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs (about $115 per month) because I could never get a straight answer from United Healthcare re how much my cost would be from them. Things get really confusing because UHC requires you to order abiraterone from their UHC-owned specialty pharmacy Optum (not Walgreens), and agents you get on the phone don't seem to be able to quote a consistent price. I previously ordered abiraterone through UHC-Optum when it was $400 per month. I'm sure it's cheaper now but probably not less than Mark Cuban, which is much less hassle.

I get my Abiraterone thru the UHC/AARP part D policy. The price is $130/month while I’m still paying the $545 deductible. When the deductible is paid the price will be $54/month for the rest of the year.

The whole Zytiga/abiraterone pricing thing from most pharmacies really sucks, it is real close to a scam.

When I started (9 months ago) the Pharmacy attached to the Cancer center told me it would be $9000 a month, I have Well Care Value Script so my portion was $2800 a month. WTF.

I quickly looked at Good RX and found it at about $160 a month. I told the Cancer center Pharmacy this and they (after a long pause) told me they could give it to me for that price.

I quickly agreed, and started getting it from them.

Since then I have searched and found it for $145 a month using Single Care and Cost Plus (Mark Cuban) for $115.

The last portion of this is story is the Cancer Center finally applied for The Assistance Fund (Non Profit that helps with med costs for Cancer Patients) to help me and now thru them it is free to me as Well Care picks up their part and The Assistance Fund pays my part.

In closing, the more research and asking you do, the better the cost will be for you.

One thing I've discovered when there was a shortage of Abiraterone in my area in 2021 or 2022, was that another way to "save" on Abiraterone ended up taking a a half or quarter dose with food rather than the full dose while fasting.

A full dose while fasting is more precise because when eating you cannot accurately predict just how much more efficient the absorption of the drug will be, just that it is more absorbed.

As mentioned, in my case I went that route not to save money but to make my supply last longer until the drugstore would get some replenishment. But I guess it could also be used to save money if one really could not get good insurance coverage for that drug.

Hope this helps.

I have been taking 250 mg with a low fat breakfast from day one. When my oncologist retired and I was referred to another he asked me if it was about the money. Well, pretty sure he’s getting fired.lol

agreed. I shopped it around when I first got the Rx and the CostPlus pharmacy is by far the best pricing. Ordering is also quite easy.
