My DH is on orgovyx month 4 and just finished his 8th session of "salvage" radiation. Overall he is tolerating well aside from some mild intermittent gi symptoms. He is interested in trying the keto diet. Does anyone have any experience with that while on radiation (or after). I just finished reading the thread on red meat and found it interesting so I thought I would put this out there for anyone to share their experience with this diet.
Keto diet: My DH is on orgovyx month... - Advanced Prostate...
Keto diet
I am also almost complete with salvage radiation, and caution you on changing diet during treatment. Everyone is different, but in my case I suffered from extreme gas when I slightly increased the amount of nuts I was eating. Be kind to your G I and wait till after treatment ends to play with your food.
I guess D H stands for Dear Husband and not Designated Hitter (cause that could mean that handsome pool boy or handsome neighbor across the street). Well, anyway I would stay away from a diet that was created by and named for the Judge in the O.J. Simpson's murder trial. If you're still inclined to put him on that diet why not try the diet on your cute dog for awhile.
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Hi J-o-h-n. You are so funny. I love your posts. Yes DH is dear husband and he is also my designated hitter. 😇 I am certainly not putting him on the diet...he wants to try it. Mostly for the metabolic benefits that he read about. Not weight loss. I am always a bit nervous about making multiple changes at once, and since is he in the early part of the radiation therapy, that why I reached out on this forum. Definitely appreciate everyones input.
I did keto for 4 months several years ago to get rid of abdominal fat and address a fatty liver issue. It's a very difficult diet, there's a bit of misery involved with carb elimination, but it did work and I never regained the 20 pounds I lost. I wouldn't add Keto to difficult treatments such as ADT and radiation. I am not a strict vegetarian but I have pretty much eliminated red meat, nearly all pink meat and poultry. I eat a lot of fish, dairy, better quality grains, vegetables and fruit. I don't digest the meat very well, I think it's the fat, for me it causes severe constipation which is problematic for the area adjacent to the prostate. If I eat 4 oz of red meat I can't poop for 2 days.
I mostly do a keto diet minus dairy , egg yolks, no sugars but a few times a month enjoy a burger minus the bun. Fish salmon, sardines, herring, shrimp now and then. Best advise get a MoJo glucose ketone blood meter. Keep the numbers in the low range. See what works some have problems when #'s get to low. I get morning dizzies at times . Dr Eric Berg videos on Keto diet help me a lot, minus the meat dairy etc. He has good info but needs edit for PCa diet. Best
