My husband had his PSMA scan today and it was negative for mets!! I am so relieved! He also had his PSA tested today and no change since December. I feel like I can breathe for a moment. We also met with the radiation oncologist this morning to discuss brachytherapy boost and it was a very positive meeting. It’s definitely a contender and we really liked her. My husband is going to take a few days to process everything we’ve learned before making a decision, but we are close to taking the next step. I think moving forward to get rid of this cancer will bring a bit of relief, though I know treatment and follow up brings a whole other form of stress. I keep telling myself…one day at a time…
Thank you for all your support over the last few weeks! It’s meant so much. 🙏🏻

I had salvage HDR Brachy in August after a failed 2015 HDR Brachy. At the time one dose was standard of care. Now it’s three.
So far I’m quite happy with results. PSA dropped from 6.5 to 0.4 at three months. 0.2 at six months.
Results much faster and lower then 2015. Dr Chang at UCLA was thrilled with both numbers.
While a reoccurrence is always a possibility regardless of what route you take, for me, this has been a good choice. I really don’t think I would have been happy with salvage surgery.
The CT and bone scans both showed degeneration in his lower spine. The bone scan also mentioned the imaging was consistent with arthritis. He’s had back issues before over the years. With this episode, he had been helping to move a desk at work the day before the pain started. It’s taken awhile to resolve, but it seems to be getting better now. He went to a physio for a while to get exercises that he has been doing regularly. He hasn’t been able to run for a while, but he got back out on his bike yesterday. All the best to you!
