I’m so grateful for this community, my ONCs, and my family. Been skiing at Steamboat late in the season. Today was an almost winter day . Climbed up to Mt Warner. The pic is a view to the east of Rocky Mountain National Park about 70 miles as crow flies.
Been stage 4 for 11 years. IADT for 8. On Zoladex until it quits, then onto BAT. Life is good. My ONC was a bit concerned about getting back into skiing seven years ago. It has worked out fine. Love to all of youse!

Would you talk about the BAT therapy that you are on, it is one of the things I am considering. Protocol and Doctor that is managing it.

I’m staying on Zoladex as long as it works. The doc I interviewed with for BAT last summer told me that once I have two months of psa rise while on Zoladex I can start the BAT. They are using Xtandi with T patches. I have not had Xtandi yet so I hope to have a nice run. Doc also said that so far, 75% of those who lost response to Xtandi are getting a renewed response. Suspects that the T impulses trigger a reawakening of the Xtandi response mechanism. Good luck if you go on that path!
Are you still hormone sensitive or castrate resistant?
I failed Firmagon and Zytiga in 2022. My Onc tried a Hail Mary of Zoladex, and to our surprise I was still sensitive. I suspect that my intermittent adt might have kept me sensitive longer due to the resetting of T every so often. Just a guess. I have had four sessions of sbrt to stay ahead of my lesions in spine and hips.
Sisto: congrats on 11 years! Cool pic of RMNP, have hiked there in the summer. Way to get out and enjoy late season skiing. Was wondering how the snow is out there in CO? Is it corn snow now, or do you still have a groomed hard pack? I was thinking of some late season skiing up at Mammoth in May, which will definitely be corn snow by then.
Timotur- most of Colorado, including the Steamboat area, are between 100%and 110% of normal snowpack, so it’s a pretty average year. The last two days were winter at the top and spring at the bottom. Looks like this weekend will be all spring. Have a great time at Mammoth! Haven’t been there in decades, but I always had a blast there. Bring sunscreen!
That’s so cool you can still ski. We enjoyed skiing here in Colorado for many years until my husband’s knees said no to downhill skiing. That was several years before PC diagnosis. I’m curious, are you working with someone local for bat or out of state?

My Montrose MO suggested I interview with Dr Graham at UC in Denver (Anschuss) for a trial last summer. She said I was a good fit for the trial, but thought I should keep with Zoladex until I was resistant. I was very positively impressed with her approach. She had four spots open for that trial, but was hoping to open up another if she found funding. Good luck!

It's great to hear from a Broto who's having so much fun. After all we were put on this earth for two reasons; sex and fun. Most of the time sex "was" fun, the other times it was with your wife.....Before I continue, does the name "James Eastham" ring a bell? They tell me the most important thing not to forget to wear when skiing is your skis.... They also tell me that Mother Nature did not put trees on ski slopes to stop us (called snowplow) but merely to piss on when you get the urge. Thanks, J-o-h-h. As a younger one, helmets were unknown. Now, I’ve gotten used to them and I’ll take on any tree, and then urinate on it. Just kidding. I love trees. Steamboat has a nice mix of aspen and conifers for festive and respectful tree skiing. No Bono hits for moi. Unless my psa gets to 10k. Uber love to you , dude.
