I was going to write a long description as to how I managed the pattern like fish scales on the water near the foreground. Then I realised it was sure to bore. So, here instead is a little something else.
This is my impression of a local beach as the moon rises over a elongate pool on the sandy shore. I hope you like it. I will gladly tell anybody who wishes how I made the pattern, but I don't think this is the time or place. π But painting it made me feel calm and accomplished. π

My caregiver and I are between Pluvicto treatments on the beach at Hatteras NC.Other than the infinite number of stars, your picture is spot on. Love your work.
I, personally, would love to know how you accomplished that close cross hatching in the left foreground. I used to dabble making art but with caregiving and all the rest that goes with it, I have little time. Iβd like to get back to playing around with watercolor again though
Here's the recipe. I painted on a thick layer of white gesso. While it was still wet, I pressed into it a fine plastic mesh -- here in the UK garlic heads are sold in bags of four made from the stuff. Before the gesso dried, I pealed away the mesh, leaving the scale-like pattern. Once the gesso was fully dried, I painted over it with blue and pale indigo (reflected sky) and pale cadmium yellow (reflected sun). Once that was dry, I brushed over it with a dark blue oil pastel to catch the outline of the scales. It sounds complicated, but really was very simple as a step-by-step operation. And fun too! I wonder where else I might use it. On some kinds of tree trunks, perhaps?
Not so, j-o-h-n. That would make for a smelly painting. I thought perhaps you were going to say I printed the pattern in the thin, dry skin on the back of my wrists. That would indeed have worked well.
Okay you win............It's the printed pattern copied from the thin dry skin on the back of your wrists.............. Man oh Man you can't please everyone.....i.e. when Van Gogh was a nobody and he never heard a word about his beautiful works of art he decided to cut off his ear and give it to a Nun..... Then when he became rich and famous from his wonderful works of art the public would yell out praises at him...... but he couldn't hear them..........
Think thats why they say...." a picture is worth a 100 words"...or something like that....evry one gives away their secrets...just think if da vinci had u- tub.....ππ€
