My daughter and I skied today. Well, I skied and she snowboarded. I hadn’t been skiing in I think 4 years. Nothing to do with PCa, just sort of fell out of the habit. But my daughter wanted a snowboard lease and ski pass for her bday, and she wants to go with me. I really enjoyed it. I skied okay and didn’t hurt myself. It was a good day.
Skiing/snowboarding was our primary family activity when the kids were younger but as they got older and had their own interests we skied less and less until we didn’t go at all. I didn’t realize how much I missed it. The conditions were better than I expected. New England has had very little snow this year but it wasn’t bad. I’ve skied in much worse conditions. I feel very fortunate that I can still ski. I think I might go tomorrow. Going to enjoy every minute.

I skied all my life but then had hip surgery. Now I have another bad hip but it's not as bad as the first. Been thinking of going.....Unfortunately both my kids gave it up.
great QOL post brother. Out having some fun on the slopes …. Out getting some good exercise …. and best …out with loving family , making QOL time with them too. That’s what QOL is all about. Post some pictures too next time .
I too skiied with my daughter in Breckenridge for my 68th Bday last Feb. i have snowboarded these past 22 years, but went back to skiing last winter. We will ski again soon in Vail. I have a bucket list, and one item that needs checking is to ski the Alps. Always a dream. No time like the present. As Warren Miller always said….”do it today because next year, you will be one year older”
Finished my third chemo infusion last week and heading to the French Alps skiing today. Totally agree that maintaining QoL by getting out there and doing what you can, when you can is the way to live with this thing.
I hope you will share your French Alp skiing experience with us thru pics, OzzieJ.
Very few of us will probably ever have that experience. I had to cancel my ski trip to Breckenridge with Coco this year for fear of breaking my already weakened bones from ADT and pain from Siatica.
Great day out there today. Can't think of a better way to get those chemo drugs out of the system. Followed up by a very rare tomahawk steak and some nice French red wine.
Awesome. My son has been talking about making a skiing/snow boarding trip, and I've been non-comittal. Your post inspired me to just send him a text saying, "I'm in". Thanks for sharing a QOL post and reminder
