I need urgent help for my uncle.

My uncle who resides in France and is a holder of a French citizenship, has been diagnosed with terminal prostatic cancer.

He had treated this condition in the past but it ultimately came back, but this time around doctors (including a specialist in Marseille) made him know that his condition was incurable as Chemotherapy would be risky his body which he deemed weak.

My uncle can go downstairs, talk and walk, eat and travel. He ended up giving up on treatment all-together since doctors around the area told him there was nothing they could do.

1. Is it worth it to look in another country/ or is there a known facility in France that provides results? A little wait time is okay.

2. What are advanced methods to treat this condition and what are any tips I can get or relay?

3. Would an American treatment (granted im a student so all I can afford is a community hospital in Dallas) be any better?

I need help, as an American who’ve witnessed the medical system disparity around the world, I found it skeptical and came here to research. I’m lost and need help.

You will probably get more help here if you give us a few more details. For instance, when was he first diagnosed? What was he told? Usually there’s a “Gleason Score” (1-10) assigned to prostate cancer (note the English spelling). How did he treat his cancer? Surgery? Meds? Radiation?

Good evening. I can recommend Doctor Karim Fizazi at the Gustave Roussy Institute, Villejuif, Paris.

Good luck

I would recommend the cancer centre Gustave Roussy, as samill says. I have been treated there myself in the past, excellent facility.

You could try Docrates - Finland, we have found them to be very good.

Gustave Roussy hospital offers second opinion consultations, in english for non french-speaking patients, certainly worth considering given their good reputation, see link below for more info:

Everyone with a stage 4 prostate cancer is "terminal" if you define that as having a cancer with no cure that is safe for everyone. Many of us live a long time anyway on the many available treatments.

Definitely see more oncologists and best of luck. Make the best decision you can based on scientific evidence with the goal being to provide your uncle with a long life with the best possible quality of life.
