What a witches brew!

For someone who rails about the "level of evidence" for treatments, I would have thought you'd encourage these clinical trials. Who knows, maybe there are pathways that these drugs can manipulate to control prostate cancer. If not, the evidence against these meds are reinforced.

I do encourage trials. But I am doubtful about "basket trials" where they try the same drugs for a variety of cancers. It's often the case that a drug that works on one kind of cancer will not work on another. Off the bat, I see 3 drugs that individually have been shown to be ineffective against PCa. Will the 5-drug cocktail work any better? Maybe. But those are some toxic drugs. I wonder if it will pass Phase I because of toxicity.

I guess we will get that answer.

I glanced at it. There are 5 drugs at one time. The drugs are hydroxychloroquine, nelfinavir, metformin, dasatinib and sirolimus.

I would sure ask your MO about it and if he/she advocated it, I would certainly get a 2nd opinion.

Hey we all want to get better and live, however I can not even imagine the side effects.

My former MO is doing the trial. He is a Professor at a Medical College and has his own lab. He is the one that is doing the trial. He came to my PC support group in January. I asked him what kind of research he was doing. He told the group about the Coast trial and that they have been able to cure PC in rats. That is why the Coast Trial. I asked him if he needs any four legged rats. He asked me what my PSA is doing . I told him six months ago was .06 in January it was .11. He no longer see patient but only works in his lab. I know what the five drugs are and the use of each one by itself. He told me to keep him informed about my PSA.

He didn’t say, I have one of his associates as my MO now. He’s a Associate Professor at the same Medical College. When my xtandi fails me I will talk to both of them about my next treatments. I have my old MO’s home phone number. He told me I can contact him anytime.

Thanks for posting. Only familiar with metformin and hydroxychloroquine from the Jane McLelland book, but have not used either.
