stage 4 prostrate cancer
Great to hear! So, just ADT so far? Status of Mets?
That is so encouraging! So the ADT took down the mets quickly then. Did you use Lupron and Zytiga (AA)/with pred? My husband has small avid abdominal lymph nodes, and we were told that we would need both the ADT and radiation to wipe them out from the lymph nodes with a long course of continues ADT. I am encouraged that you responded so well.
ADT has been a good drug for everyone when you start. The advantage of chemo and second line antitestosterone drugs is that they increase the length of time these drugs work. Many people got years of quality life out of ADT alone. My suggestion is to add Abiraterone. It won’t really add many side effects and will add years to the response time. The earlyier you start it the better it works.
There is nothing in your bio of your treatments so far
I will be more than willing to reckonize your find on Dr. Dachs book . Details are many with this approach and treatment options. But main pts out of my research - control glucose /insulin factors good gut biome, Strict Planned diet, supplements, herbal medicines Scheduled Intermittent and prolonged fasts, And the use of repurposed drugs- knowing where to safely and logisticaly source them. A Universal crossover modalities are the possible use of some of the above mentioned as possible carrier agents, and or to work synergistically along with conventional and or alt treatments. I will be present articles on this subject line in future posts. Well done ! Thanks Best
Between October 4 and December 5 2023 I was diagnosed with Gleason 9 with PSA hovering around 25 (ultimately 4 PSAs with same result over 4 months). A soon as I saw the first PSA after a routine checkup I essentially knew I had cancer. Based on that assumption I immediately transitioned to a plant based diet as a means to have some positive impact on my situation. Do I think I am impacting the cancer itself? No, I don't. But the plant based diet has done a few things. It lowered my total cholesterol from 230 to 157. It lowered my LDL from 135 to 90. It lowered my systolic BP from an average of 140 to an average of 125. I've lost 23 lbs so far. And maybe the most important benefit is that it helped me feel like I have at least some agency in this process and I am not simply at the mercy of my tumor and the healthcare industry. That has been a significant mental boost. So, for sure, I am not curing my cancer with diet. I do believe my new way of eating is more protective and the positive changes in overall health will ultimately be supportive of better and quicker recovery and may help stave off future cancers. Who knows, but its me doing something to help myself which feels better than doing nothing.
Unfortunately, I was prescribed levofloxacin, as a prophylactic against infection after my prostate biopsy and I appear to be one of the 1 in 10,000 that has a significant negative reaction to fluoroquinilone antibiotics. I have experienced severe pain in my lower back, hips and down the back of my legs since 24 hours after taking one 750mg dose. All this to say that while I have made good dietary changes...exercise can be quite painful so I am still working on finding a way to do more walking and resistance training that doesn't trigger the tendon pain caused by the Levaquin.
Oh, I am also focused on building up my gut biome. I assume the Levaquin also destroyed a lot of good bacteria so I am eating more fiber and probiotic, fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, natto. I have even been making my own sauerkraut, kimchi and sourdough bread. Fun projects.
Yes all good stuff, I changed urologist because he used that antibiotic, thank god I looked up the side effects before taking. Going to provide a good site. Best askapatient.com/
We probably need more detail on what you've done treatment-wise, both conventional and alternative, and during what period(s).
