Hi Warriors:
Update on my red golden retriever! Ryland is now 8 months old and doing well in her training sessions. Ry is such a great companion as she gets me up each morning and keeps me active. As you can see from a recent pic, she is a beauty. Working hard with her to complete all basic dog training but still needs some work on heeling. However, as she is a great sniffer, perhaps I should train her sniffing out prostrate cancer! I saw recent news on dogs detecting prostrate cancer and MIT researchers trying to use dog data to build "sniffing" early prostrate cancer detection into an iphone. More research work is needed as it won't be feasible to have an army of dogs to detect early stages of cancers such as pca.

For centuries, everyone from hunters to scientists has been capitalizing on dogs’ extraordinary sense of smell. Now an innovative collaboration aims to harness this power into what will someday be a “robotic” sensor – mimicking what dogs know and humans don’t: how to detect the most lethal forms of prostate cancer and save men’s lives. (Dogs to the rescue, yet again!)
☑ Phase 1: Peer reviewed study confirming that dogs can smell prostate cancer. (read more)
☐ Phase 2: 800 “citizen scientist” urine data samples needed from men with prostate cancer to train 4-6 bio-detection dogs so that samples can be input into an A.I..
☐ Phase 3: scientists harness this data to build a machine nose prototype.
☐ Final Phase: Your cell phone just might tell you that you have prostate cancer before your doctor does.
Who wants to donate their piss for phase 2?
Stay strong!
