Blood in stool..

Sorry for the Poo talk but here goes..

About a week and a half ago, i was wiping and noticed pink on the paper. When i was done i got the flashlight on and saw a red blood streak along the turd. On the outside of it.

It went away so i thought it’s a one-off.

then the last couple days three more times a similar thing.

Plus, ever since the radiation, i often get like a clear gel that is being produced.

I had ext beam and brachy boost about 16 months ago (no spaceoar). Today I got my 3 month PSA number. See below..

PSA:

6mo lupron ended 8/22

EBRT and Brachy completed 9/22

-11/21/22 0.04

-4/18/23 0.20

-7/19/23 0.50

-10/20/23 0.28

-1/19/24 0.18

So PSA is trending down right now.

Anybody else have this trouble or know about it?

It's common and harmless.

I have it on occasion and I’m almost 4 years out from RT. My RO and gastro doc say it’s relatively common after RT for many years.

It's frightening to see, but it happens, so just report it to your Urologist and or M.O. and see what they recommend. Happened to me and my Urologist checked out my bladder with the famous cystoscope (which is really a no bagel bagel procedure) and all ok. Had cystoscope up my William at least 3 times in the past.......

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Sounds like hemorrhoids leaking because of something scratchy in the turd. Avoid nuts and popcorn. Take a stool softener daily and drink more fluids.

the blood as you described it is potentially (likely, imhu) from a hemorrhoid. The gel, I don’t know. PSA going down is a blessing! Count your blessings my friend.

Consult with a good GI specialist to confirm the root cause.

A little early for latent radiotoxicity but not impossible. If the blood really looks fresh more likely a hemorrhoid. Ask your doc to take a quick look.

It could be colon cancer, so I'd highly recommend getting to a gastroenterologist ASAP. I had a very similar situation a year ago and found a 2 cm tumor just inside my anus. Have now been doing chemo for nearly a year in order to shrink it to the point I can have it cut out without a permanent colostomy.

Thanks for the tip bluesnjazz.

I remember reading about how some radiation docs will send their patients out for endoscope BEFORE rad therapy. Due to them experiencing patients having a polyp i guess blowing up after radiation.
