He may have PSMA negative tumor. An axumin scan or a cholin pet/ct can detect this type of tumor. With a value of 6.5 his PSA level is too low for an FDG PET/CT, which could be used also.
Axumin would? My RO seemed to say Axumin uses same mechanism as PSMA scan; the difference is degree of quality. Is that an oversimplification? That's what I understood him to say. I've only had Axumins the last four years and we discussed this recently in the context of a complementary scan for PSMA.

On the point of at what PSA that psma scans can show a tumor, my own experience is that they did not until I reached a PSA of 8.9. Just one data point (the one that mattered the most to me).Jeff
