A fellow member of the cabaret group with which I sing (more like squawk and croak nowadays) continues to send me photographs of what she refers to as being 'Brent's Corner'. I in turn do what I can to abstract paintings from them -- meaning in the sense of abstracting an image. This is my eight attempt at a painting, showing Brent's Corner in its autumnal hues.
I played around rather, using a combination of acrylic ink and cellophane from the packs my urinary incontinence pads come in (talk about upcycling!) This technique I used in the lower half of the image. I am sure there is lots to discuss with my art therapist -- such as why there are two distinct halves along a horizon. Which half is the present, which the future.
I love having such discussions, as they occasionally lead to insights. But for the moment I am merely sharing this as an example of my latest daubing. I hope you enjoy its rather murky depths.
I have been asked to prepare two things for our palliative care team: A 'with sympathy' card based on Welsh scenery, and a page for a website showing my development (both technical and emotional) as somebody being aided by the team. I must admit to feeling honoured at the thought of both, though the weight of responsibility weighs heavily on my amateur shoulders.

Brent, I noticed the two halves immediately. The very top has a much lighter feel with the bottom very dark and dramatic, as you say murky. I like the very top better. I laughed at the thought of the cellphane recycling! Very resourceful. I bet the sympathy card will be beautiful. The web page will most likely be very useful for others on their journeys. It is very nice of you to share your talent (and yourself) as you take on these projects. -Deb
You are a great creative inspiration for so many of us, Brent. Please don’t let any trepidation regarding “amateur” status prevent you from continuing the outstanding legacy you’ve been creating with your artistic endeavors.
Really like this ‘murky’ one! The colors are rich, seep and saturated. I’ve been studying it and my mind keep coming up with all sorts of stories about Brent’s Corner! Must be an intense place!!! Thanks for sharing, as always—-best to you
