Low hemoglobin, and foot neuropathy common with ADT?

I was on Lupon for six months, three years ago and experienced feet going numb mostly at night and low hemoglobin. Those issues subsided once stopping Lupron for a few months.

These symptoms became more acute during the last two years on Orgovyx with hemoglobin dropping to 9. ( I also had four treatments of LU177) But since stopping Orgovyx a few months ago, hemoglobin is now up to 10.6 and testosterone at 90.

Does anyone else have problems with these issues and if so, what is the remedy?

Testosterone encourages hemoglobin production. If it gets very low, you can get erythropoietin.

Thanks. What are the side effects or potential down sides of erythropoietin? Since the first Provenge treatment my hemoglobin is plunging--after the second I can barely walk a few block. One more treatment to go next week.

Discuss with your oncologist. It is not a permanent fix.

Hello. I suffered from neuropathy before the cancer diagnosis, but it's definitely worse since starting ADT (firmagon) this past April, and my hemoglobin went down to 6. I ended up in the hospital - but it has come up to 10.5 now. No explanation for why it dropped, or rose again.

I was also low due to other medications and applied ARANESP (via pen) once a week for two months. I also checked my transferrin saturation (important, checking transferrin only isn’t enough) and came out very low. So I received FERMED, which is iron and added some supplements for two weeks. Last week I came out normal for red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematokrit. Really happy, as sports is more fun now.

I have had a problem lately, during October and now into November, with borderline low red blood cell count (4.42), hemoglobin (13.1) and hematocrit, as well as iron level and vitamin B12. It might be due to lupron, but I suspect it is due to my diet, which is low in iron. Also, it might be influenced by coffee and stomach acid reducer. It has been a cause of shortness of breath and fatigue. I'm taking iron supplement and B12, I also increased my iron rich food intake, (clams and chili), but after a few weeks I am still not feeling well during any activity that requires exertion like walking for more than a few minutes. I;m thinking it might take months to recover to normal.

Low hemoglobin, Yes.

No neuropathy here, though.

5 years on Lupron.

You should be tested for low hemoglobin. There are several causes. You might need iron or folate or vitamin c or vitamin B12 and you might want him to check for MGUS, plasmacytoma, especially if you've had a lot of radiation in your care. There are ample dietary changes that can help with that or your doc might put you on yet another prescription, but since there are different causes, start with a blood draw and find out where you're deficient. Also Alcohol is a big contributor to low hemoglobin as is overtraining, soda, coffee and tea. You just don't have enough info yet.

Also can you update your bio? Last was about a year ago.

Regarding neuropathy, no to Lupron but I did experience it in my pinky toes while on Elreada. So glad I'm off that shit. Don't care how effective it is.

Oh golly. I just re-read your post and see you also had Lu177 and 4 treatments. You don't mention when you started or if/when you stopped. Decreased hemoglobin is an adverse reaction to Pluvicto. Again, if it's me and depending on when you had that treatment watch and wait is possible but still in the interim, ask your doc to check your B12 levels, iron levels, folate levels, vitamin C levels and test for MGUS.

Not what you're looking for?
