ADT and ED Meds?

FinnO profile image

I am just starting Orgovyx and it's working well.... too well as far as ED is concerned. I had no significant issues prior to ADT with achieving an erection and orgasm. So at a minimum I'm pretty motivated to try and get it back in some form or fashion or at least do whatever I can prophylactically to help it come back assuming my time on ADT is finite. I am wondering if anyone on ADT is taking an ED med and what effects, if any, it has had? Is it less than ideal to throw this on the pile with ADT + ARSi?

Hi Finn, I am 20 months into ADT with Abiraterone. Get one of your Docs to prescribe low dose silendafil(Viagra) which helps maintain and prevent penile atrophy. I wanted to say Mr Wiggly but the grownup kicked in🙂. I needed Trimix to get a reliable erections but it works well and I’m good to go for 90 minutes. Orgasms are hit miss with intercourse but consistent albeit less intense. Sorry if TMI.

Tylex, all good. TMI left the building when the nurse yanked my catheter out and we proceeded to have a lengthy discussion on ED. I like to think all this adventure has broken down any remaining filter I had and enhanced my Archie Bunker persona. My RO prescribed 100mg of Sildenafil. Not doing much so far other than giving me my first hot flash. :) I cringed when I saw your Trimix reference and honestly didn't think of that. Hardest thing I ever had to do as part of all this was shoot up via Mr. W. but... totally agree.... as long as I don't hit a vein it beats the pill for results and SEs. Might charge the gal $100 a shot. Thanks for this... truly!

PS Tylex... how are you tolerating the abiraterone? Looking to add an ARSi to my ADT but skiddish of the higher side effects of abi especially for liver and heart.

I have been fortunate liver function test have stayed in normal range. I have Afib and Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and no additional issues while on Abi.

I take a daily maintenance dose of 40 mg of Sildenafil (generic Viagra). I can then up the dosage as needed if sex is imminent. I can achieve an erection and have sex, though it’s not as good of an erection as I had pre-PCa. Still I’m pretty happy with it.

I have had great, reliable, long lasting erections and always orgasm with tri-mix. Sometimes use a little extra and have a second go round

Try the penis injectables. They work by another mechanism.

Tall Allen is fairly knowledgeable about them.

He knows what they are, which ones to ask for, how to use them, how not to use them.

Yes... thanks. tri-mix is an injectable. I have used and credit it with jump starting my erections after RP. If there is a better/different injectable that has come out over the last couple years I am all ears.

They do have gels now with same ingredients that are put into the urethra....not as effective from what I have heard. TriMix comes in different strengths...and there is always BiMix (that one made my penis ache though). These are only localized effect in area where injected...so much less chance of any systemic effects

Have not heard of the gels. Getting my Tri-Mix refilled this week.

see my profile, your sex life does not need to end.

Cialis is my preferred drug of choice.

My motto “ use it or lose it.

15 months into ADT and still going strong

Long road Scout and encouraging. Pills are less effective (prob due to RP) and problematic for my stomach so needle it is. Will put a g-d pump in if necessary. Do they have an app for those yet? :) All the best to you.

I echo the comments above.

My original urologist told me that my sex life was over. I did some research, fired the urologist, and bought a pump to keep the erectile tissue going, Then, Mr. Wiggly (and my wife) began to take notice. I now take Sildenafil and use Trimix. I don't need the pump anymore.

As a result, my wife and I have intercourse almost every day. On days when I'm not going to inject Trimix I take the Sildenafil, Unlike the Scruff, I have lost some size and firmness, but we manage to make it work and have a lot of fun doing so.
