Hopingforthebest1, passed away, peacefully today. His wife was by his side and he succumbed to the cancer.
I won’t go into details, but I can tell you what kind of person he was.
My dear friend, fought gallantly.
He tried so hard to beat this cancer.
every test, procedure, clinical trial, etc, was to no avail.
Finally, his body could no longer fight the ravaging cancer.
As we spoke during his hospital stay, he knew that he had limited time left on this planet
Through it all , he fought , he researched, he gave hope to others and he was upbeat that he could get to live longer .
But on this day, he lost his fight and we are now at the point where I am leaving a final note of thanks to all of you who encouraged him, and spent time with him and gave him hope
My final words are: keep up the fight .
Don’t give up.
Don’t let the Cancer win.
Thank you for being there for him .

Thanks for letting us know. I know he gathered a lot of info on this forum, and I'm saddened to hear of his passing. It was good that he had a good friend like you by his side.
my deepest, heartfelt condolences for his passing. He and his wife fought so very hard. Looks like he was surrounded with love and family when he passed. It’s so hard.

Dear Trainer40. I just joined the APC forum about a month ago, so I am a Noob trying to feel my way around here. Your friend made a post concerning going into hospice and I could tell he just wanted more time, despite the pain, the suffering. It greatly saddens me even that I don't know your friend. I could tell many people cared about Hopingforthebest1 by the number of replies he received on his post. i appreciate your saying what is true and all must shoot for no matter how bad the situation is, Never Give Up, never give up, if there was ever a flag our forum could adapt it would have that NEVER GIVE UP on the Front Page emblazened on it, in honor of your friend and your love for him and his wife. Thank you for letting us know Trainer. We were all hoping for a little more time for him. But to hear he passed peacefully with his wife by his side felt comforting. I'm sorry for the loss of your good friend. He was well liked and respected here and will be missed.
This is sad news. His user name, Hoping For the Best, seemed to be a reflection of him. He also appeared to be a fellow of great integrity. Peace be with you and all who loved him.
I am sorry to read this as I also hoped he had more time. It seems so soon after he learned he was out of options to be reading this. Thanks for letting us know.. May he rest in peace and may his loved ones find some once the grief of his passing eases.
We will kick butt another day! Cancer as a concept, is an illness I am confident we will conquer in macro terms within the next 50 years. We may pass, but other humans later in time, with our same issues, will live, easily. Keep hoping for cures.

Through the many years that I’ve written to him and seen him on the persistent gladiator into every rock he would overturn to search for extension and all trials applicable tied to the answer that could lead to resolve he gave us all hope as well to the persistence.

The death of a treasured and beloved friend is never easy to accept.
Grieve when necessary and care for yourself. It, the loss, never becomes easier, at least in my experience. I would never trade the treasured times in my life with those who have passed to avoid the pain of separation that death brings. I consider myself to have been fortunate to have shared some of this life with them. Realizing that has helped temper my grief at times. It will still hurt. It always will but the rawness will be blunted.
I am so sorry. I went and found his profile to refresh my memory. Ah, yes...the man with the very sweet face, wearing the trapper cap. Sending hopes for peace and strength to all his family and friends. I'm glad you all have each other.
I’m so glad this forum helped him along his journey. In truth we are all holding hands, walking towards that place in the distance where the road drops off. Some let go of our fingers long before we are ready. Blessings and comfort to you and all those who loved him.

We're all special but some of us stand out a little more. He did for me anyway. I had a big lump in my throat hearing this. I last heard of him looking for ways to bathe etc. with loss of leg use. I imagined him hanging on longer.
He really did pursue everything he could and informed and educated us along the way. I will miss him very much. His dialog with Faith and others here.

You referred to Carl (HFTB1) as your good friend, well here on H.U. he was everyone's good friend. I messaged him recently and asked him if anyone ever told him that he looked like the former US Senator Trent Lott and he messaged back "Steven Kolber, maybe". To me and probably many others he was the quintessential gentleman that we all admire.
I wish to offer my deepest and most sincere condolences to his Wife and to all of his family, relatives and friends. May his spirit cast the same brightness that glowed here in our Universe. Rest now......the ordeal is over.....
