there may already be posts like this, and If there are I’m sorry, I couldn’t find them!
my dad is covid positive (first time!). I read on here in the past some of you said that you can’t take paxlovid with abiraterone? He is on that, flomax and lupron. I know it’s better to take paxlovid before it gets much worse. We can’t reach the doctor till tomorrow, so I was just curious what you all have learned. Is it better to take a break from the abiraterone and start paxlovid usually or to try and beat covid with nothing?
he is older and an everyday smoker (marijuana) so I worry but he isn’t tremendously compromised otherwise.
Always look forward to hearing your thoughts..

The Abiraterone doesn’t appear to be a problem; but a fair number who are on it also take a statin drug, like Crestor; and that it not to be taken along with Paxlovid in my understanding.
Paxlovid has minimal effectiveness. I only prescribe it for patients who are really sick with COVID. If he has no respiratory complaints, he probably doesn’t need it.
COVID is a respiratory virus that most people deal with quite well.
I took Paxlovid when it first came out…..got rid of Covid pretty quick but it was just as quick to return……..it may cause a rebound in some as it did with me…Do some reading on the drug before you take it
Thank you all for your responses. I was definitely over panicking, as I do since my dad became sick. He luckily hasn't really had respiratory symptoms, so outside of lots of zinc and vitamin C, he probably isn't going to take anything else. Hearing about other peoples experiences is so invaluable.
