On vacation!

Didn't think I would ever go on an ADT vacation. My new urologist thinks it would be a good idea since I have several SE from my MDS-RS with the worst being fatigue added to my ADT fatigue. Have been on Eligard after radiation for 3 yrs. with PSA undetectable. Am sure in my mind that the radiation caused my MDS. Will continue PSA testing every 3 mos. Sure hope the hot flashes stop.

Have any type of metastases been detected by scan? You mentioned your bladder? If no past or current scans have found metastases, then a vacation is the only way to determine if your treatment has fully succeeded, IMHO. At 85, you deserve a break!!!!!!! Sadly, after 3 yr zero T at a an advance age, T recovery could be a real challenge...most of the SEs probably caused by low T, NOT the drug. I wonder if they consider T boost too risky for men in your situation? I've seen no studies of that? But i haven't looked!!! Aren't our Docs supposed to know this stuff???????????????????????????????????????

I have already had 4 different oncologist and will probably fire the one I have now. Don't know where I'd be with out this site.

Maley's right. Intermittent ADT is not inferior to continuous, though T recovery may be slow, or not happening at all, necessitating T replacement. Today, this is not considered dangerous, because you're adding in the same chemical that would have been provided by your testicles. Good luck.

Would be nice for my T to increase, but a decrease in fatigue will make me happy.

Yes, fatigue is an extremely common SE. Mine was debilitating.

I wish you all the best with your ADT vacation Spencerboy11.

I just began my own ADT vacation on May 2. Can't wait for testosterone to come back so I can regain the energy that I've missed so badly after 2.5 years of treatment.

Good luck! I just passed the 1 year mark of vacation. T recovery barely happening but I feel great. Still have hot flashes at night but much less than before.

have you tried estradiol patches? A lot less SEs than Lupron and no need for vacation.

I couldn't get anyone to rx them for me. Right now the die is cast and I want to see what happens.
