The nkx3.1 was found in a recent liver biopsy. What does it tell the oncologist and what treatment would shrink the tumor ? Never heard of it and when looking it up it is confusing as it is in all prostate tumors from what I have read. They indicate it is a biomarker but how do you get rid of the tumor containing it ? Been on ADT with eligard for 5 years , most recent was cab that failed after 6 months .

NKX3.1 found in liver biopsy
It just confirms that the tumors in the liver are prostate cancer, and not some other kind of cancer. It has no therapeutic implications other than that the liver metastases may respond to the kinds of therapies that all prostate cancer may respond to.
It does not indicate wether it is slow growing or aggressive and if it is PSMA emitting, correct ?
Nothing like that. It just confirms that it is prostate cancer. Doesn't your MO tell you this?
I am seeing him next week, just si I know what it is. Not sure the direction and still waiting on MSK to get back with the first appointment. He referred them to me for treatment and clinical trials with plivicto. Going to mention a pet scan or maybe MSK will check that .
Yes, they have to do a PSMA PET scan before pluvicto. I think they should also do FDG, especially with liver metastases.
Curious about the FDG PET scan. What's the reasoning for it? Thanks.
my dad had a bone biopsy from a fracture and it came back from pathology as consistent with prostate cancer, or NKX3. Which meant it wasn’t some other kind of disease or other type of cancer. So it just means the spots from your liver are metastases of your prostate cancer and can be treated using similar therapies
And of course we wish you well....... MSK is a great hospital....
