Radiotherapy RED CHEEKS???

hi all.Having radiotherapy to prostate.

Was going to be 6 sessions, once a week for 6 weeks.

Now is 5 sessions as they say they can do what they want in 5 sessions???

I've had 2 seesions, feel sort of tired??? Maybe just generally lower energy mentally and physically(nothing anywhere near like chemo.)

But my cheeks keep flushing and going red....

Many times a day.

Don't think it's hot flashes as it's just in my cheeks????

Finished chemo 8-10 weeks ago?

Any ideas?????

This is timely as I will be starting the same 6 week (1 per week) RT to the prostate tomorrow. Did they say why they now decided that 5 sessions are enough?

I'll let you know if I experience flushed/red cheeks.

There's even a trial now to see if two is enough.

The fatigue and the flushing have nothing to do with the radiation. Maybe an aftereffect from the chemo.

Exercise!

I had my first RT session to the prostate of the 6 on Tuesday and have already noticed two changes -

1. I definitely feel a little more fatigue than before (I'm on ADT+Xtandi and never had chemo). I'm keeping up my exercise routine but it's getting harder.

2. Even though I'm on Tamsulosin, my flow rate has reduced.

I hope these issues don't get too much worse with the remaining sessions!

I started on enzalutamide instead of having chemo. But enzalutamide wasn't a good experience for me.

So I had chemo.

I'm on 3 sessions of 5 radiotherapy to the prostate.

I been ok, but do feel allot more tired(bit sleepy....)

But not like the chemo fatigue or the enzalutamide shuffle?

But my face cheeks keep going red....

I don't feel hot, just my cheeks

My husband's been on Lupron/Xtandi and developed red flushed face as well. MO didn't have a clue. I took him to our dermatologist who diagnosed rosacea from hormone upheaval. There's a cream that can be prescribed but my husband said it really doesn't bother him so he declined. On the plus side, his rosy cheeks make him look well even when he doesn't feel like it.

I also experienced the flushing of my cheeks after Jevtana chemo treatments and I believe the Taxotere as well. It stopped after a week or two post treatment. I’ve had radiation treatments several times over the past few years and experienced fatigue for awhile but I recall that it improved a few weeks after completion of treatments.

I had no issues with side effects, now the jury is still out wheter the radiation did a number on the cancer.

I get red face cheeks when I'm in front of my computer monitor...(we're both susceptible to rays).

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I had 39 sessions of Srt in Jan. & Feb. I developed sort of a rash on my butt cheeks. And and some redness in the navel area. Thought it might be radiation dermatitis. My RO said that was unlikely because normally radiation to the pelvic area does not cause Dermatitis. After he looked at it he said wow maybe it’s a reaction because of having sensitive skin. Any way finally went away a couple weeks after treatment. Good luck with your treatment.
