I miss my beer the most.

Had to get that off my chest. That was cathartic. Have a good night.

What’s about non-alcohol? I love it on the meantime. It’s fresh & tasty. I got so used to it that if I try a bit of normal beer, it got tasting well any more.

Athletic Brewing Company Run Wild is my N.A. beer of choice. Athletic also makes an N.A. stout and an N.A. juicy/hazy IPA. All are well worth checking out. Enjoy!

100% tastes like a normal IPA. Great stuff.

I stopped beer also when first diagnosed. But after a few years I started having one beer with my Saturday night pizza and a movie.

I had to stop beer as well, was looking forward to beer festivals, pancreatitis, now got diabetes 2, and PC 😤😤😤

If it won't kill me i do it just not with the frequency I used to. Too hot in the Lake Havasu City heat not to have a beer

WHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa …. back in central Texas , they’d instantly show you the sidewalk for even mentioning that Shirley Temple, girly , near- beer awfulness. Just say’in 😂😂😂😂😂

On a serious note tho: something has happened to me in recent months. No one loves a fine aged Pouilly Montrachet or Pomeroll ( with my charcuterie ) more than I do, and either Dos Equis or corona with lime …. maybe plata ( silver ) tequila shooters with my ceviche or fajitas …… but …. Now when im imbibing alcoholic drinks I get an uncomfortable - unpleasant after feeling. “ That’s” a big loss in my life brought on by ADT no doubt. Maybe I’ll have to give those 0.0 beers more consideration.

❤️❤️❤️

yayahahahaya had to look that one up. I’ll look around for that …. We’ve got an enormous variety of ethnic foods here … we have very large populations of assorted Asian, middle eastern and Indian / Pakistani groups here, to name a few. About anything you can think of can be doordashed and then some.

For me that rings true. Also on the surface something like a whimp factor--I don't want even the smallest amount of hangover feeling just as I don't want any amount of flu or covid heaven forbid to go with my already cancer and cancer treatment side effects. If I wake up feelin decent its a good thing. Don't want to chance messin with it.

And yea the buzz aspect isnt the same. A week or so ago I had a Newcastle with pizza (it had been as is the case these days 5 or 6 months since a beer ) and the first couple guzzles were scrumptious and I pondered going for the 3 to 5 beer buzz but one was all I was interested in.

You have to give up beer? (My husband was recently diagnosed. On the low end of learning curve here.)

DD50 profile image
DD50 in reply to ToryCarlisle

Cancer and alcohol do not get along. But at least for me, although some will disagree, the extra calorie, Carby loading from beer just feeds body inflammation in general. It's hard to go from craft beer lover to, literally, a green tea totaler. But, my diagnosis might be way different than your hubby's, so he should ask his doctor.

ToryCarlisle profile image
ToryCarlisle in reply to DD50

He doesn't drink often, so hopefully can still enjoy an occassional beer. Will ask. Thanks.

monte1111 profile image
monte1111 in reply to ToryCarlisle

Never ask a Dr. about alcohol or cigarettes. Or anything else you enjoy. The answer is always no. I do drink less beer now. But Jack Daniels has doubled its dividend payout. Everyone can press the ignore button now. Not all at once please, you'll crash the site.

I enjoy a cold one and a wine with my dinner on the weekends. It may not be good for me but it helps to keep me optimistic, cheers DD 😎

Could not agree more. A few of the non-alcoholic beers are pretty good, so that helps, as does an occasional cheat. What I really miss is exploration of new beers with my crew. NB: My username may help with credibility here.

I saw 3 MOs while searching for the one I trusted. I also just got back from MD Anderson to confirm my treatments are as they should be. I always filled out the section about how many drinks a week as 2-3 drinks a night 3 times a week. At no point did any of them tell me I should stop all consumption. That being said.... I have cut back as I don't need the extra calories while on ADT. I need to really watch my weight, no beer. The alcohol also ramps up my hot flashes.

Last month we spent 3 weeks in Venice and Florence, I had an MO appt the week after I got back, he asked me how the wine was.

Everyone approaches PC differently. My husband is now on his 2nd recurrence and mostly doesn't drink much any more, but when we've got something to celebrate like a family birthday, granddaughter's stellar athletic achievements, going to a restaurant, etc., he still enjoys a beer...and I'm happy when he feels that way. I don't think an occasional beer will affect him adversely and I think it's great when I see him enjoying anything with the gusto he gets from a beer!

Tasted them all and for best taste Budweiser Zero is the best because of the beach wood aging. And second runner up for a dark beer for as close as it gets is Guinness Zero. And it produces a very nice head. And who doesn’t like some nice head?

I'm not too sure about all the alcohol and cancer don't get along stuff... Aside from general health and inflammatory disease, I would love some links showing causation, not association!

Because then every bar fly and hobo would be in cancer wards, and that's not the case. Now maybe it has negative effects post diagnosis, sure.

What's weird for me is alcohol seems to have less effect upon me any more. I can sit and drink a few beers and don't even get a buzz! I'm a bourbon man myself and can sit and sip for a looooong time and nothing! But I enjoy my drinks, like I do my steaks, albeit even if it is on rare occasion any more. I still drink and eat that brings smiles to my face!

It is that our metabolism changes with the cancer? Or maybe just me...? Telling you last summer at home barbeque, I sat and before realizing it drank about 10 beers and was a sober as the day started. Lol... Weird!

drinking a magnum of Bourbon every 3 days and not getting buzzed I thought I had a problem and then went to 100 proof that helped for awhile. Then it was 151 rum and I don’t like rum. Other alternative was everclear. So Cold turkey with horrific withdraws and got sober. Dry over 5 years. Got a lot more money now 🤣😂 Cheers with NA beers 🍻

Anyone ever had a doctor that smoked cigarettes 5-6 decades ago? I had a couple that smoked. 😱

Thanks for sharing the Tesla. Who knew? I sure didnt know. Pretty cool. I like both tequila's just depends on mood...or I used to anyway lol. Customer's in Mexico City took me out to gourmet restaurants and had some really good times. I still dream of drinking but it never pans out. My drinking thoughts are the same. Kind of like "damnit I'm going to drink it'll taste good and I'll enjoy it" but never get around to it.

Kaliber profile image

yea that’s a $85 bottle of boutique tequila that jumps to $2000 when you put it into a fancy bottle with Elon’s company logo on it and make it scarce. He made 400 bottles of it as a joke. I got it as a gift back when it was $400 new. I’ll prolly never get around to it for different reasons as well. It’s complicated around here.
