a couple weeks back, I visited my Kaiser infusion lab …. Lupron implant and Zometa pain train infusion.
While there the intake nurse was alarmed with my 95.2 body temp. It’s been running between 95.2 and 95.7 lately. She told me to go to the E.R. , immediately, if it dropped to 95 or less. They were reluctant to let me leave with my body temp so low. Frankly I see it hit 94.5 and 94.8 every now and then.
I’ve been jumping into my nicely hot jacuzzi for a couple of hours and that jump starts me back up to 96.7 to 97.4 again. I used to run high 96s to low 97s routinely every day. But my temp is slipping down a lot lately.
My question is how much deep kimchee am I in when my temp hits , say, 95 or 94.6 or so. Is it really “ that “ big of a deal or what. Is my jumping into the jacuzzi to jumpstart my body heat ok, to revive my heat. Is there better ways to go about it …. A pill / medication you can take or ?? Exercise doesn’t seem to help much …. like jumping up and down , riding a stationary bike etc. .
I feel ok , more or less , nothing different - additional than my usual daily parade of extreme adt issues. I have noticed that , when my temp is in the low 95s , my massive leg and foot discomforts are less of an issue … even to the point that the bone and muscle pains down there seem to melt away quite a bit. For that reason, I kinda like the chilly body. Just say’in.
Any thoughts , ideas to bring up my body heat quickly besides the jacuzzi or a hot bath ? Hot coffee or cocoa tastes great but doesn’t really fix the problem. Also, with my blue tooth Kardia ekg device, the amplitude of my qrs train is about 1/3 of my wife’s disgustingly healthy cardiac QRS yayahahahaya. Any ways to “ fix “ this so I don’t have to check my heat all the time ?
Thanks in advance brothers.
❤️❤️❤️

My last couple of blood tests have identified low iron and anemia. My GP told me that the anemia could be causing my chills as it can cause lower body temps. i know that you are all over your conditions, but is there any chance you have low iron?
Also, I enjoy the benefits of meditation, so I often meditate on the feeling I have gotten in warm climates of the heat penetrating my bones. That sometimes helps me raise my body temp slightly.
my last bloodwork came back a couple weeks ago and it was all surprisingly okie-doakie. Even my skyrocketing ( 300+ ) microalbumin came back down to 39 something. Just above the normal range. Everything in my wbc and cbc looked ok, most of it runs just under the low normal range but has been there for a couple years. I kinda thought it was the best one I’ve seen in a while, considering.
I’ve been researching it a little , looks like it might not be “ that “ uncommon with prostrate cancer. Seems like I don’t ( yet ) have enough of the symptoms to point it at an end of life experience…. Likely more to do with reaction to my meds and a little about the cancer. Not ruling that EOL out , I’ll keep an eye on it yayahahahaya ( denial ? )
Actually I don’t feel “ cold “ all that much , not like being in the snow or anything. Except for this morning a little bit, I usually don’t shiver , I did this morning tho. I feel coolish all the time. ( cool man , cool ) It’s just when I check my core temp and see it low, and then I go jump in the jacuzzi to make the thermometer climb back up. I can get cramps in my lower legs and feet muscles. I might be able to get my Apple Watch to track it.
Now I think it’s going to be a case of “ it is what it is “ and if I hit 95 or less and can’t get back up quickly, drive into Kaiser. ( the last place I want to go ) . I’ll just take a wait and see posture and get that QOL time in too … prolly not many choices here , whatever .
I’m glad to hear that your blood work results were decent. That being the case, it’s frustrating to have something off, and no clear causes. After my elligard injections (4 mo intervals) I often have periodic chills. I have an electric throw that I use to warm back up, but I’m not sure what happens to my body temp during those times. I just got my latest injection yesterday, so I will check my temp during the next couple of incidents.
I did talk to my pcp , she asked if I was losing consciousness or being extremely sleepy … ( I’m not more than usual with my extreme adt circumstances ). Told me to go to E.R. if it hits 95 or lower ….kinda a deafening silence on the other end. I’m treated like that by my whole medical team. They ask if my pain - discomfort is under control … make sure my affairs are in order and tell me to spend time with family and loved ones yayahahahaya. Im used to it . Thanks for replying to my post brother.
hay bruddha …. Everything is copacetic , no biggie. I think I’ve answered my own question since I’ve posted this. Exercise has no impact on my temp , probably because I can only do limited exercise now. In January I experienced a major spinal pain breakthrough event due to using my stationary bike. I was dressing for the ER when my breakthrough meds finally started working. My body temp working fine right now.
I’m gonna kill this post , since it serves no purpose now big guy.
I spent decades in outdoors training where hypothermia was a constant risk. There are stages. A temperature in the 90-95 range is MILD and of little concern unless your OTHER symptoms are in the extreme range.
As to pain reduction, that I believe. A friend with terminal breast cancer asked me to help her with a mountaineer's death, aka hypothermia. She was a climber, backcountry skier, outdoors instructor and her love died of high-altitude cerebral edema on Everest. A bath tub of ice under a clear sky wasn't sufficient, but I know it kindly reduced her pain.
thanks for posting, I’ve talked to people and gotten a lot of info , I’m pretty much OK now. I’ll still go in to Kaiser if it drops under 95 like my pcp wants and I have other ways to stay on top of things when I’m asleep and my temp plunges. I’m surprised at how that makes pain go away … not sure I wanted to know tho yayahahahaya.
Thanks for the reassurance, I really appreciate it.
Hi Kaliber,my whole life 95.9 (35.5 C) is my normal. Unlike Sista, my scale is not shifted. 98.6 behaves as it should. Borderline. When sleeping alone, have to put much more then is considered "normal". Cold feet yes.
Pronounced when from any reason have to skip cardio a few days.
Guess that our sedentary way of life doesn't suite us in any way.
hi msti .. several posters here have “ normal “ temps quite different than the standard medical model , it’s pretty interesting . Before I got sick , before adt, my normal usage a little high at 98.9. - 99f . After I got sick and adt started, my temp started to lower bit by bit and in the last couple of years it’s been in the high 96s to ole 97s. I think my adt did that to me. I don’t feel cold tho …. I do feel a bit cool but not cold , normally. Body heat seems to be more complicated than the simple medical models.
hi Kaliber, you are above average cool guy anyway😅.
Jugoslavia 1972.
When variola major (black variola) started 175 people was infected, 35 died.
In a few weeks, 18 milion people was vaccinated and threat was sorted out.
A person close to me was teenager at that time.
After vaccination, raised body temperature slightly above 98.6 was observed and was present for another almost thirty years. There was not explanation for that from any MD. After that period, body temperature returned to normal level and after some time had arrived to cool "territory".
indeed we are msti , it’s part of what makes us special. Thank you for your post. additionally who knows what bug may have come along as well. I’m back to my most recent normal now. That’s reassuring.
yayahahahaya I think you mean Jack Nicholson , that’s the picture … just say’in .
You sound like one “ kewl “ lady . awful pun , I know.
Thanks for jumping in for me, I appreciate it. I’m good for now, I don’t think it’s anything that’s likely going serious on me right away . I’ve talked to enough people that I think I have a pretty clear understanding of whats happening.
I’ve got a lot of QOL stuff lined up when spring springs here in two or three weeks. Our springs come early here. I’m planning on being around and getting out there. Got another trip to the coast lined up in a couple of weeks too. Going up to see the record snow pack tomorrow. They’ve cleared the roads now.
I sleep on a heated waterbed at night, I can crank that puppy up enough to keep me toasty warm if need be. I might pick up one of those watch’s that monitor body temp and wakes me up if it drops too low when I sleep … as a friend suggested. I wear a apap at night , it wakes me up if I’m not breathing right too. days I’m good, I just want to watch things when I’m asleep.
It’s great hearing from you again, it’s been a while. No ce of you to get in here like you have. Thanks.
Jack Nicholson played the character of Jack Torrance, correct? Or is my brain fried...errr...frozen? 🥶😅
I am glad you monitor your "vitals" while sleeping, amazing technology these days. I just started using another option on an health app that monitors blood oxygen and records snoring. I never realized how "romantic" my husband and I sound while sleeping, good grief! 😴💤😪💤
I've taken a little online break lately, been a bit busy what with the holidays, my sweet Belle 🐾 went to the Bridge, my son & I rescued & adopted 3 puppies and are working on the momma dog to gain her trust, went rounds w/flu & Dr trips for me and hubs, just a regular day in the life, lol...but it's nice to be remembered, thank you for your kindness!
Hope you enjoy your outing and haven't been impacted by all the weather. Keep us updated w/your upcoming QOL adventures! Keep on keeping on! 😘
🕊️🙏❤️🕯️
P.S. Meant to add: How ironic, but my electricity actually went out last night for about 4 hours. It was around 25F, light snow, and we're all electric! No fireplace or alternative heat source. I was truly beginning to feel like Jack Nicholson's character! 🥶
yes your are amazingly correct Cheryl … I would never have remembered his screen name in that movie but you do. Your brain cells working WAY better than mine. Yayahahahaya yayahahahaya just amazing.
Lol, the hammer sounds like a logging mill when she’s asleep on the couch yayayayah. Fortunately both of us sleep on a cpap maching which gets rid of all that deafening snoring.
Dogs are such great companions, loving, protective… cathartic . I love them. We used to have two teacup poodles , both boys, they , sadly, died of old age. We have granite pebble tech floors , in the kitchen and hallways , right now …. We’d have to have those replaced before we had pets ever again. They’d be impossible to fully clean the urine and marking scent sprays out of.
We had a lot of much needed rain here , a 30 year rain event so far. Record snowpack . Gonna be about 68f ( 20C ) here today, spring will happen here in a couple weeks , first will be the almond groves and assorted ornamental yard trees. Probably gonna have a wildflower super bloom this year too.
Heading out to Kings Canyon in a little while … see some of that record snow fall. I’ve got the HD 4X4 hardware to go up there with too. Same as all the rangers drive. The snow up there , right now, is supposed to be 2X the amount in this picture from 2017.
thank you for adding to the nice people that have responded to my post, it’s great to see such love shared here. This group is great .
I sleep on a big ole comfy heated waterbed ( ever since the 60s ) and I can dial in whatever warmth I need . I agree with your friend that a warm bed is a comfy bed.
I really appreciate you taking time posting for me, it’s heartwarming to see so many great guys and gals on the group.
Your thyroid gland helps control your metabolism via thyroid hormones-T3and T4. You could have your pcp check your Free T3 and free T4 ( not just the the TSH -usual thyroid test) to see if they are low causing the lower temp. The chemo is known to affect thyroid gland and thus reduce the thyroid hormone production. Good luck.
roger that cub , from what others have told me …I suspect you are right . It’s something that impacted my thyroid a bit. I did talk to my pcp , she didn’t say much , none of my medical crew does anymore except asking if I’m spending time with my family and taking care of my financial affairs etc. Yayahahahaya. Kinda cringeworthy but I get it . I’m good now … back to my most recent norm … feeling pretty good too. Ready to get out for some QOL fun. I’m going to try to drive up to nearby Kings Canyon National park to see some snow. Here in the valley , it’ll be 68 today but we can see that record snowfall from here yayahahahaya.
Thanks for adding to the corus of great people here on the group , I really appreciate it.
Consider that we went through our entire lives without paying much attention to our body temperature and now lately, we check it all the time as a way to determine if we have Covid. I also come up with low readings and don't know why, but the other day I checked in at 95.1. My guess is that it probably doesn't mean anything. Keep your eye on it and if it is consistently below 95 you officially have Hypothermia and might need to do something about it. Occasional readings of 95 are probably meaningless. Below that start to worry.
ain’t that the truth . I wasn’t even thinking about it until the intake nurse at the infusion clinic went all Squirrley about it yayahahahaya told me they didn’t know if they could let me go because of it. No one wants to get stuck in Kaiser, it’s my worse nightmare yayahahahaya. I agree with you, it’s not “ all that and its gone now anyway.
I appreciate your taking time to adding to the post , thanks.
boy you got that right …. they’re sharing the love and reassurance…. Doesn’t get any better for guys like me . A lot of caring nice guys and gals here.
I’m back to my most recent normal now …. I’ll be keeping an eye on things but today, this morning … I’m as fine as I could expect to be. It’s all good.
Sounds like you like to chill for a guy that’s 7.5 decades. Nothing wrong with that. Goes along with the golden years. Yes I’m a chiller also. Wife uses me to chill her champagne.
I use to hangout in nursing homes back in the day and almost everyone was chilled and seem to do just fine other than a few yelling at the top of their lungs “I WANT A CIGARETTE” Nicotine will restrict blood flow. Are you a big puffer? How about Broccoli? How about ivermectin? How about getting a membership at the Gym? Paid the electric/gas and oil bill? Chopping wood and burning it in the potbelly stove seems to drive up my temps. Thinking maybe lathering my body in Capsaicin cream. Lots of home remedies. Yes ever sense I started this ride taking my temperature shows lower than normal. I’ve considered it the least of my worries. Now back to chopping wood. Cheers 🍻 Bud Zero
haaaaay mannnnn …. I’m 45 years old in my head … just say’in. Its just that my body hasn’t got the message …or more correctly rejected it yayahahahaya.
I can’t get a lot of exercise, the lower spine met damage I have gets in the way and it doesn’t improve over time. I started out the new year with resolutions of working harder on my type 2 diabetes and getting more exercise. First after new years , I did 4 miles on the stationary bike and triggered a lower spine breakthrough pain event that almost sent me to the ER. Took an excruciating week to get it under control . Also, adt has put me in a wheeled chair. I’m one of the low percentage that get “ adt zombie “. it’s all good tho … I’ve lived WAY past what my medical team thought possible and I’m far from done yet …. far as I’m concerned. I’m still gonna challenge the bike again, just little bits at a time.
Coincidentally, I used to occasionally work in V.A. Nursing homes back in the day. Dozens and dozens of angry old men , some tied in their wheelchairs, …. Cursing at me, spitting , throwing things and bumping me with their wheelchairs …. and I’m just there trying to repair their infusion pump or ventilators Yayahahahaya. At least most of us aren’t in that category of disease … that’s good I guess.
O M G …. a ghost yayaha yaya. How the heck have you been buddy … I thought you walked off to the elephant bone yard or something. Wow …I never expected to see you here again, this is great. We have missed the “ humor master “ …. Things have never been the same without you. It’s great to see you again.
yayahahaha …. Don’t forget , at this point in your life , you need your wife.Yayahahaha danged if you don’t, danged if you do . ( big sigh ) oh well. 😂😂😂💪
