Dear friends,

My father’s Onco had given just 5 days prednisolone 5 mg twice a day after the day of chemo and dexamethasone 8 mg intravenous the day of chemo. Unfortunately, I have lost my dear, sweet heart father 3 months after the last chemo (8 sessions). My father PSA was only 157. It is so devastating. One of MD says it is organ failure due to chemotherapy . I do not know what exactly happened during this 3 months, though after the last chemo my father getting worse gradually, severe anemia, heart arrhythmia and .....

I want to know whether the Onco had done chemo regarding guideline or not? And does anyone know when the Onco should discontinue chemo after rising PSA? Also what is the dosage and duration of prednisolone and dexamethasone given during chemo?

Thanks.

It would help to know more information- what was his initial diagnosis, his age, etc. Filling out your profile will help people answer. My husband had chemo at diagnosis along with ADT and he tolerated it quite well. Triplet therapy (chemo+ADT+abiraterone) is the current newer treatment shown successful in studies for metastatic newly diagnosed depending on their current stats.

Sadly as a Senior PC Advocate I personaly have never seen anyone survive Docetaxel more than 18 months with little or no quality of life.
