Alkaline phosphatase

Can anyone explain too me what the alkaline phosphatase levels mean?

Mine had gons from a hiigh of 782 to a low yezterday of 167.

Psa has also gone from 1200 to 1.52

Someone will do a better job than I, but the falling alk phos is good. That test measures damage being done to bone. Ideally it will go down more. My lab says normal is 38-126.

Your numbers should have you dancing in the rain. My understanding is that liver problems can throw off you alk p. numbers, otherwise usually mean bone mets are getting better or at least not worse. I've gone on a long glide from a little over 200 (there was a flair caused by 1st chemo) to about 68 now. Almost 2 years. I'm able to go online and actually see my lab ranges since march 2017. I can request graph and see it steadily going down. But for some ungodly reason they say there is some law and they can't do that with PSA. If my explanation is wrong someone here will let you know. It actually is raining here but I am not going to go dancing in it. Hot pizza, the couch, and TV are my immediate plans.

To my recollection, there are two types of tests.

1. Alkaline phosphatase, and

2. Bone specific Alkaline phosphatase

The second test does the best job of detecting bone metastasis.

Just wanted to say thanks for asking and thanks to everybody who already replied. I'm in a very similar position with an ALP level that has just recently dropped into the normal range. Probably going to have to do my happy dance in the snow

The alkaline level in my blood test was the indicator I had cancer 900. Supposed to be like 90. Doctor said it had to do with the bone shedding material ?

I have it tested every two months along with Psa and T to keep tabs on bone health.
